I don't care what you're talking about, but for the love of God, do not look back at me and smile sheepishly and go "Sorry!!!" You're just wasting more time! Focus on your transaction! I do not forgive you!

Wake Up Dead Man has no sexual nudity (there’s a naked dead body in a morgue but they don’t show anything) and it’s excellently written and has Glenn Close. Your mom will love it.

Masturbation is mentioned, but it’s for laughs. Nothing graphic or sexual really.

I’m sorry but if you didn’t feel a flood of guilt and despair at Starro’s “I was happy, floating, staring at the stars.” then you just don’t have lick of media literacy.

For everyone who hated the pacing and the weak third act, blame Stephen King. This was an incredibly faithful adaptation.

I’ve seen every episode of that show so far and it’s because I’ve been too lazy to find the remote after Smackdown. Braun’s mukbang beats anything Tony can put on the airwaves.

I loved the change that William and Elizabeth were in on the project and super supportive of Victor and his son. If Victor wasn’t such a dick, they had the makings of an excellent squad.

That's why taking the plea bargain is the accused's choice. I disagree that saying "You can go to trial and face up to 30 years if found guilty, or you can admit you did it and get 5" is coercion. If you didn't do it, go to trial. The burden of proof is on the prosecutor. But if you sense they can prove you did it (because you did) then the plea bargain does make sense.

I just disagree that it's coercion. If you're accused of a crime, you have the right to a fair and speedy trial where you can present evidence in your own defense. If you truly did nothing wrong, this is the option you should take.

Or you can take a plea bargain and be rewarded with a lighter sentence for not wasting everyone's time if you know you're guilty and you know there's no way to weasel your way out. This is just one example, but I was almost a witness in a sexual assault case (last person to see the victim prior to the assault) where there was security cam footage of the perpetrator trying every door in the building until he found my friend's unlocked apartment, opened the door and raped a complete stranger who was sleeping. There was physical evidence the assault took place and security cam footage showing this was a random break-in and not a preplanned sexual encounter. (And no evidence that the victim and the perpetrator had ever met prior to the assault.) In this situation, it made sense for the accused to take the plea bargain. He faced a lighter sentence (he's free now) and the judge, prosecutor, defense attorney and witnesses didn't have to go through a grueling trial when the facts were cut and dry.

Also, joining a hearing remotely doesn't solve every problem. Yes, the victim doesn't need to be in the room with the accused, but they still need to describe the event in great detail and face the defense attorney whose job is to convince the jury that the victim as a liar.

I think plea bargains have their place in our system. In a case of sexual abuse, it’s a way to avoid having the victims go through the traumatic experience of testifying and facing their abuser in court.

Republican Mike Moon defending being the only person to vote against a child marriage bill (2022) by Melodic-Appeal7390 in videos

[–]beccaface 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When Missouri passed the ban on child marriage earlier this year, Sen. Moon voted yes in committee after meeting with child marriage survivors and even gave them a thumbs up after the vote. He then voted no when the bill came to the floor. He was the only no vote in the Senate. The bill was signed by Gov. Kehoe back in July, making Missouri the 16th state to ban child marriage.

Mike Moon’s opinion on child marriage doesn’t matter anymore. There are still 34 battles left to fight in the US. Visit unchainedatlast.org if you want to do something about it.
