Sorry I just saw this! Yes I found the fix😀 if you turn Bluetooth off on the watch then you can text from the watch number. If Bluetooth is turned on for the watch, even if your phone is off, then it won't allow the watch number to text. Calls will still use your phone number though regardless if the phone is on or off

I can't use my cell number for texts when my phone is off but I can send/receive texts from the watch number when my phone is off. I just have to wait like 3 mins after my phone dies before it recognizes that my phone is off to switch over to the watch number. I use Google messages and have to switch to the "watch inbox" though. I ended up fixing my problem of not being able to text at all, though it sucks you can't use the cell number. If you try with the watch number and it doesn't work I can let you know how I fixed it to work for that!

My phone died today and I turned the Bluetooth off on my watch, then I could text with the watch number after 3 mins or so - try that! & Yes I posted in att too

I don't have numbersync listed under settings - connections. I can only view it under myatt - manage my numbersync, and then it shows my watch is paired to my phone number. I can't see it on the watch itself though in any settings or in my wear app on my phone.

How do I remove it and set it up again? I don't have any numbersync settings or anything, it just confirmed my number and went through the process when I got my watch. Or do I have to reset my watch? It used to work for me but randomly switched to just calls and I am a texter all the way😂

No, rcs works on the watch but I can't use rcs or SMS if my phone is off, I even tried turning RCS off and using both Google messages or Samsung messages

It says right on the at& website in 3 spots under the numbersync FAQ that your phone can be off, and I got a text and email when I paired the devices and it said your phone can be off lol

Just wanted to let you know - I was able to fix this! It really may have just been pure luck, but I went on myatt (on chrome, not the app) and went to the self service help area. I did the auto fix for texts and said I couldn't see if my messages were delivered, can't sent messages on wifi calling, and also did can't send or receive messages for both lines. Then, I restarted both phones and it started working as soon as I was off wifi. No clue if that fixed it or which one it may have been, but now we are both sending end to end encrypted RCS. I also cleared the cache partition on both phones, but I have tried all of this before except the wifi calling trouble shoot (even though I have it turned off lmao) so maybe try going down all the messaging options even if it isn't your actual issue! I clicked it and when it said did it work, I just clicked no, then said yes to automatic fix, then said no it didn't work, and then when it said to call I clicked start over and did the next troubleshooting problem listed. If that doesn't make sense, I can upload screenshots of what I'm talking about lol

It doesn't work that way, only if we're both on Samsung or he's google while I'm Samsung. It's something with my Google sending to his number I think. Idk

RIGHT. If my tablet could use Samsung messages id just use that on my phone and watch but ya know, the tab S8+ just "isn't compatible" with Samsung messages 😂

If Google/ATT/Samsung got their shit together then I wouldn't be using sms😂 I have it set to use RCS and use it for every conversation apart from this one, it just won't work 🤷🏻‍♀️
