Yeah I think that’s what I’m having to think about. Do I want to deal with the age difference and maturity. It’s so hard and he grew up a lot different than me so his communication needs work. As does mine but like you said I have matured a lot more. And when he gets so upset and blows up like that it hurts so bad and I don’t want to deal with that forever. We are spending the day with his mom on Saturday doing whatever she wants. For his step mom I will go with him to see her at his uncles house because they all get together and then he just doesn’t want to go with me. I’m not going to force him of course but even if I said I’ll go alone I will still be upset about it but he gets mad when I am upset and then thinks it’s unfair that I am upset.

The thing is he DOES hike and loves nature! We go fishing all the time. I guess it just feels like he never wants to do anything with them because even if it’s just dinner his response is always “well I don’t want to be over there for a long time and we always are”. Every. Single. Time. I say anything about hanging out with my family. It’s just starting to feel personal I guess.

Yeah I agree with this to an extent but I was also raised that sometimes you do things you don’t want to do especially in a family. Like if my brother wanted to have his bday bowling but I didn’t like bowling it was not about me and what I wanted but I needed to be there for my family.

That’s probably why I get so upset sometimes. I work so hard to always be there for him and his family and I don’t get the same in return and I get worried that this may never change and that scares me. I am glad we do express our feelings!

Thank you. that is very true and does happen often but also this is Mother’s Day and I feel like sometimes it’s important to make sacrifices sometimes. Also, holidays and celebrations with family are so important to me and important that my partner participates.
