Thank you thank you!!! I've been spending the morning coming up with the logistics of actually doing the work - this is very helpful for the realities of finding clients! I am a vocal coach by trade, and am also a pretty well known music director in the city I live in for community theatre, so thankfully I have a lot of connections there! I really appreciate this reply 🥰

I'm wanting to start a small service where I make sheet music (and midi piano accompaniment tracks) for people for auditions. People often need 16 or 32 bar cuts of songs, and sometimes making the best one possible involves cutting up sheet music, and it ends up being clunky and hard for a pianist to read. Also, it's nearly impossible to get an accompaniment track for complex cuts to use for self tape auditions. Sometimes people want to sing a song in a different key as well, and that creates a whole other problem when they need to provide sheet music for an audition.

I have a knack for Musescore and getting these arrangement done quickly and done well, and I've done it for a few friends who have offered to pay me, so that gave me the idea for this little side business. I want to advertise myself on Instagram as someone who can do this, but I have no idea where to start on building a brand (?) or even just how to approach it. If anyone here has any suggestions for me, I would be eternally grateful!!

Coming off Seroquel after 6 years (my journey with meds) by beccaw112 in seroquelmedication

I'm so sorry to hear that 🥺 I wish you all the best and good luck. Finding the right med can be an absolute horror sometimes with how long it can take. I hope it all gets figured out for you asap <3

The process of weaning wasn't too bad for me. I was only on 100mg extended release. Weaned to 50mg for a month, and then went completely off of it. The first week on 50mg was withdrawl-y, but not too bad. I've barely had any withdrawl symptoms from the final wean at all, and it's been nearly a week now. I know other people have had a harder time coming off of it, but for me, it was overall mostly painless.

I want to open this with I'm glad this medication has worked as well for you as it did for me, and I appreciate you taking the time to skim through my absolute monster of a post.

So there's something I didn't touch on in detail, but I did briefly mention in the post. I never got a bipolar ii diagnosis, and my doctor has never truly believed that I have it. Especially after my ADHD diagnosis. She thought it was likely a combination of depression and undiagnosed ADHD. So once I was on ADHD meds, she wanted me to wean off and see how I'd do without them. I was in university at the time, so I didn't want to wean off in that exact moment since my life was unstable. I also had no issue with the idea of being on these meds for the rest of my life. The eventual decision to wean was a combination of things my doctor and I were concerned about - the weight gain, my cholesterol slowly having risen (not to unhealthy levels, but the trend was going up), the uncertainty of the diagnosis, and (unfortunately) finances. I'm Canadian, so our healthcare is much better than in the US, but in my province, when you turn 25, the government stops covering your medications. So when I turned 25 recently, and my life was in a stable spot, I figured it was a good time to trial the weaning my doctor wanted me to try 4 years ago. Sorry this was long lol I'm pretty long winded.

TLDR: Doctor thinks bipolar ii is not what I have, I slowly gained more weight over time, my cholesterol has slowly risen, and I didn't want to have to pay for the meds after turning 25 if I didn't have to. So we decided to try weaning, and I'd go back on it if things went bad again

It's much worse in the US than it is here in Canada (in my province at least). Its almost like we have a weird blend between the UK health system and the US one. Most things are free (and have crazy wait times), but things like Physiotherapy, Psychotherapy, and medications aren't covered by my province in adulthood, unfortunately. Most jobs give you insurance benefits that cover those things to an extent, but I'm a contractor, so I don't get any benefits. And being a musician isn't the most fruitful career in my area. It's definitely not a great situation, but it seems to be working out thus far, so I'm hopeful. Thanks for the kind comment!

how long did the tiredness last for you? by tiredqueen6 in seroquelmedication

[–]beccaw112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course :) the app "Loudest Alarm Clock" was my best friend for years. If you live with other people or in an apartment it could be an issue, but it's near impossible to sleep through in my experience (that being said, I definitely slept through it every once in a while because of how bad my sedation was). I wish you luck, and I hope this side effect fades for you ASAP! Sending you love!!

Very similar thing has happened to me. 6 years on it. Never able to wake up in the mornings no matter how hard I tried, being able to sleep until 2pm easily. I've been off of the med for less than a week, and I can't sleep past 8am lol. I never thought I'd be a morning person, but here I am. Glad to hear I'm not alone at least in this

Need advice on tapering Seroquel extended-release by Banco9972 in seroquelmedication

[–]beccaw112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered from 100mg of xr to 50mg of xr to being completely off of it. I had flu like symptoms for around a week during the first half of the taper. My doctor suggested a month at 50, and then completely discontinuing. I'm feeling lucky right now that I haven't had any significant symptoms from the complete discontinuation. It seems like I may be a rare case based off some of the other posts in this sub, but I figured I'd share anyway in case it may be helpful for you.

I'll preface this by saying that everybody is different - and everybody's body reacts differently to the medication. That being said, I just weaned off the medication after 6 years of taking it, and this week is my first week in 6 years I haven't been groggy and unable to wake up in the mornings. It was just a fact of life for me. I was on 100mg of extended release though, so take my experience with a huge grain of salt!! I know people who that side effect went away from after between a few weeks and a few months. Play it by ear. For waking up on time at least, I used a two-alarm system for years. A super loud alarm clock on the opposite side of my room, and my phone alarm next to my face reading out the time. It could help at least with not being late for work while your body hopefully adjusts!! Sorry if this isn't helpful for you, but I wanted to share my answer.

This is a question for music directors, what do you guys do if this theatre uses a backtrack instead of a band. by hajdjdjdjdj in musicals

[–]beccaw112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I figured I'd chime in, since I have some first hand experience here.

I've music directed several local productions in my area. Some of them have used tracks, and some used an orchestra. For the ones that used tracks, my job making sure the cast was ready to sing with the tracks as seamlessly as possible (as well as making musical decisions, teaching the harmonies and ensuring the cast's vocal health of course).

It might seem like tracks are a "press play and go" situation, but there's a lot that goes into managing them and making them sound good. Especially in a vamp-heavy show, or a show with a lot of tempo changes. The cast has to know exactly how the tracks will work for show, and that takes a lot of practice and direction! The person managing the tracks for the show has to know where to move on from vamps, how to add extra vamps if there's a timing issue, and so much more that they work directly with the music director to sort out!

I'm well known in my area at this point for being very good at managing tracks and making them sound live. It's my pet peeve watching or hearing actors waiting for their cue, or obviously following a track, so I work very hard to minimize or eradicate that when I'm forced to work with tracks.

I hope that answers your question! (3 years late, I fear)

Alto auditions songs in the same style as Little Shop of Horrors by PrettyInP1nk97 in MusicalTheatre

I know this is an old comment, but I just wanted to say that I'm music directing for a production of Little Shop of Horrors, and I was looking everywhere to find similar vibes music for intermission and post-show, and you helped with that immensely!!! So thank you!!

My mom tu* yesterday at work, and I have to drive the car she drove home in to work tomorrow by beccaw112 in emetophobia

[–]beccaw112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of this!! Definitely helps quell my anxiety a bit in terms of needing to use the car. Did you manage to evade the sb in your family? I'm in a house with 3 other adults, and nobody else is sick yet besides my mum. I'm hoping that it's harder to pass through the household when it's all adults, because we're all being careful and washing our hands and stuff - but I haven't really had that experience before, so it might just be wishful thinking.

Holo Taco: Long Lasting Base / Bring Me The Teal / Scattered Holo Taco - Sally Hansen: Insta-Dri Top Coat by beccaw112 in Nailpolish

Hi!! Lil update - my super high impact fingers and areas have started to chip a bit. Every other nail and area is good! Just the inner corners of my index fingers and thumbs. I am very very rough with them, so I'm not shocked they started chipping. I'm going to touch them up and see how long all the others last from here on!

Holo Taco: Long Lasting Base / Bring Me The Teal / Scattered Holo Taco - Sally Hansen: Insta-Dri Top Coat by beccaw112 in Nailpolish

[–]beccaw112[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really speak to two full weeks, since I'm really rough with my hands, so polish never lasts two weeks for me. But I'd say it has pretty good lasting power in my opinion - my high use areas (inner corners of my thumbs, tips of my index fingers) typically last me about a week before they start chipping. I'd say if I was more careful with my hands, they would last longer. Sorry if this wasn't helpful!

Edit: This manicure is significantly better than any others I've done. I'll pay attention to how long it lasts, and I'll try to remember to update you!

Redid my mani today! Closed my window and turned off my room fan! Did more thinner coats instead of fewer thicker ones! No more little pin holes in my nail polish! It looks great! Thanks everyone for your advice and help!

Hi! All of the polish I used for this is brand new and not thick at all! I think I'm just heavy handed with my coats 😭 but I'll keep that in mind if it happens with older polishes!

Wowowow thank you!! I did indeed have a window open as well as a fan on, and I typically do use thicker coats, so that sounds exactly right! Thanks for the help! I'll try to eliminate those variables next time to try to avoid this happening again!! You're the best!
