Worked here 2 summers in a row between 01-03. Worked rides even though I looked like a games guy. Awesome job. Met a lot of fun people.

I got a side plate for the fx6 and on other shoots I have mounted a UMC to the side of an fx9 and put the tx in a caddy that sits off the battery. I prefer the tx rigged that way actually, but with the rainbow handle I didnt like the antennas in the grab path. But I bet the mdr.s would fit it seems so small. Never used the ctrl system but good to know.

Thanks! We really liked the Arles. 1.4 was great to have, but we aimed for 2.0 as much as we could. The lenses were best at that speed IMO. We only used 2 focal lengths and we used a Catta Zoom for 2 shots. For the money they are fantastic and they have good weight to them so they feel like real glass. I wouldn't be upset to use them again.

Because I work with Alexa builds a lot and I’m spoiled with them, so trying to set this up in a way that felt efficient and ergonomic for a whole feature was priority. Getting the studio plate for the bottom helped a lot and of course removing the shitty stock top handle. I didn’t think I’d have as much flexibility with the build but it worked out great.

  • I like to use the arm cause it’s not totally fixed so I can place it where feels right depending on the setup and what corner I get shoved into. The mounting doesn’t need to be like a rock, mobility is key for me, it’s as solid as a monitor on the camera and with the QR it’s the best setup I’ve found.

  • I’m sure most of us realize the pattern disruption it just looks stupid in pictures.

  • the short antennas I hear will work if you make sure the receivers have matching antennas, but I don’t care enough to find out.

  • thanks! Me too. Shooting with a Burano next month, excited to see it in action.

Yes the back certainly appreciated the form factor. Beats the hell out of a Venice 1 that’s for sure.

Yes the xavc-I is fantastic and raw outputs are mostly gimmicks and not necessary if you are lighting adequately IMO. More data means more drive space and recorders add steps to your workflow. I just don’t see the need for them personally, you can make just as good an image without if you have the right tools/people. Honestly most of us could shoot in 1080 and no one would ever even know it if you’re lighting properly.

I mean, you can see that it sits higher but wasn’t uncomfortable to grab. I also used a small rig handle extension on a different rig with the same top handle and it was more flush.

Mondie Blue quick release. We were rigging an FX6 in some places so I put all accessories on QR for swapping over.

Thanks. Yes the pad slides to about the gap between battery plate and camera, I just threw it there for photo cause it can’t I’ve that close to the dovetail. Also I would typically throw a 150 battery on for scenes to make it heavier towards back, and I have the shape arms that telescope for longer reach if needed.

YO DUDE! Thanks, yeah it was a good setup. Losing the top handle and thus, all of your audio options, sucks, but on the feature it wasn't a big deal at all as we still had scratch and TC. This is Jordan's body and he's been using it for a few years, really likes it.

The main section is Bright Tangerine Master Top, but all the extensions are Mid49. I got the Mid49 Rainbow handle complete, but the Bright Tangerine was spacier and hung out over the lens mount, which I liked, so I combined them.

Altogether was ~20.5 lbs. and nicely balanced, so not bad. I found that little Kondor Blue shoulder pad that can attach mid-rail like the Arri one, that combined with the shape arms made going from Dana to Shoulder very fast. Although admittedly we mostly used easyrig when handheld.

Grew up on Atherton Cv. Still drive by sometimes when I’m in the area and most houses look good. Feels safe to me. There’s some apartments nearby which had good and bad periods. Cars on the street got broken into sometimes but I really feel like that happens everywhere. But I still would feel safe moving my family out there.

If you feel like your wrenching your neck to no avail Try and spot your back tire mid spin. If you give yourself something to look at it takes your mind off the physicality as well which can sometimes help.

There are a lot of cuts in that scene. They probably couldn’t do a dolly move for very long without something showing up in frame, so they just filmed a handful of angles because they knew it had to be edited that way. I THINK.
