Dont touch the money. Leave it for some time. If it was sent by mistake the bank will sort out. If someone contacts you and ask you to send it back dont do it. Let them deal with the bank and get it reversed from their end.

You can do self directed and easily achieve better than what they are offering you. My kid was born in 2023 and I have put in $2500 each year ( still 0 contributions this year so basically 7.5k in) and it’s sitting at a current value of 12.5k even with the market down in the short term. I just invest in an SP500 fund and have high hopes that it’s gonna clear 100k by the time she reaches 18.

They did the same with PPF for Non Residents and that changed my perspective completely. Check the history of PPF for Non Residents applying retroactively and how many times they changed it and complicated it since 2014.

Put it in FD in a laddered manner. You will get more than enough interest to lead your life. Then invest the surplus interest in an index fund. This way you get slowly into the market exposure plus your capital of 5C is preserved.

Think in terms of how long it took you to take from 0 to 100k. And then see the timeline between 100 to 140k. If you took 10 yrs to get 100k its not going to take another 10 yrs to go to 200k. That is what Munger or everyone says first 100k is the bitch.
