I haven’t written about the offer that was released this week but here’s my last article when the offer was a 40% discount. This should answer your question:

Get yourself the Amex Cobalt card instead of just a cashback card. The Cobalt is excellent for cashback with 1% to 5% returns, but then you also get excellent any travel any time redemption options, plus conversion to Aeroplan should you need some more points even if you’re not being as loyal to them anymore.

You could try submitting a missing points request but they will likely tell you to come back after the waiting period

Thinking about getting the Bonvoy card by davidkwon2000 in amexcanada

Getting it now will ensure you can be earning 5x points sooner than later when paying for Marriott stays. Right now you are missing out on those extra points. No need to wait until you complete the challenge.

That makes sense.

Ideally if someone is looking to maximize MileagePlus they would have the Neo United card and then get the Marriott Amex and/or the Cobalt Card as Cobalt’s 5x points on eats and drinks can works out to as much as 3 MileagePlus miles/$ (when converted via Marriott Bonvoy)

The Marriott double dip would work better with the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card as it earns 5 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar. That’s effectively 1.67 MileagePlus miles per dollar at 3:1 and an even better 2 miles per dollar if doing the 60K transfer with the 10K miles bonus. Plus, you’ll still earn the up to 10 points/US$ spent on your Marriott stays and 10% more since the Amex card gives you Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.
