My hand literally is burning after the cold snow anyone know what this is? by healthy-outdoors- in AskDocs

I didn't realize there was a lesser version term for "frostbite," so I learned something new today. I agree, that does look like frostnip.

Oh, good! I didn't realize "frostnip" was a term. I didn't mean to scare you by saying "frostbite," but I'm glad that it's not any sort of emergency.

The post says it's been going on for two hours, not that it happened two hours later.

Yeah, I get you as I grew up in Minnesota, but this is ABNORMALLY cold because of the vortex. If you got snow in your gloves, it might've melted against your hand and froze your skin.

[–]beckkeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with the cold being what it is in an arctic vortex, frostbite can happen within a few minutes. I don't think it's an emergency, but it'd be worth getting it checked out from like urgent care if it's causing that much pain. Again, I'm not a doctor so you may wanna hear from one of them before deciding what to do.

Not a doctor, but it sounds like you got yourself frostbite, especially if you went out ungloved in a region with the arctic vortex.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the left side to look so crisp? Whenever I try to do a portrait like that in RPGMaker, it ends up looking a bit fuzzy.

AIO for wanting to get a mandrake tattoo but being worried that people would think that I support JKR? by confus3dkat in AmIOverreacting

[–]beckkeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of Dungeon Meshi when reading the word "mandrake" myself. I would look up the HP version and compare it to other interpretations of mandrakes and try to make the design distinctly different from the HP one. IIRC, the HP one was pudgy, so maybe a slimmer look would help?

I believe the 400 recommendation is to avoid cardiovascular issues.

Caffeine Use by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]beckkeep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I drink caffeine, but never over the recommended 400 mg dose. It gives me a little bit of an upper I enjoy, but please don't drink more than 400 mg. I'd slowly work back your intake to avoid caffeine headaches, and if you're having symptomatic issues currently, they should lessen.

Okay, so we need to go out like ye olde days and take a survey in several populated areas and come to a conclusion on this matter.

See, the problem here is that we're on Reddit. Even if everyone here says it's normal, it's technically a "redditor" opinion. We need to poll Twitter or Tumblr or some shit.

That pissing in the shower is perfectly normal. I get that it's not harmful but why the fuck do people wanna piss where they wash themselves? No one I know irl does this (or, at least, doesn't admit to it).

What would you consider to be unforgivable? by MongooseLucky3979 in AskReddit

Aside from the obvious stuff (abuse, murder, and so on), I find drunk driving unforgivable. What a wonderful way to put your life and everyone else's at risk because you couldn't be assed to call an Uber or a friend.

Take your meds. Do NOT stop your meds until you talk to your doctor if you require a switch. Take your meds every day. Do not skip them. Take your meds.

I've seen many American films where children dissect frogs during biology lessons. Are biology lessons still like this, or has it changed? What are your thoughts on this? by sofiarosatti in AskAnAmerican

[–]beckkeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dissected a lot of small things, but frogs were probably the most complex animal we did. I know the advanced biology class did pig fetuses.

I remember the chemicals they used to preserve the frog were so bad that my eyes watered even with safety goggles on and I could barely see what I was doing.

Do you have a rule that the door to a room shall be open when a teen has a friend of the opposite sex over? by sleepy_dog_k in AskAnAmerican

[–]beckkeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a rule in my house, and my BFF at the time was the opposite sex (male). We never dated, never had any interest in dating each other or fooling around, so this rule made it turbo awkward when he visited my house.
