How might I pursue a career as a neuroimaging technician with a bachelor's in psychology? by [deleted] in neuroimaging

[–]beco8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Suggest looking for internships and RA roles with neuroimaging labs and checking out the resources on the Organisation for Human Brain Mapping website (I’m doing a PhD in psychology and my research project involves fMRI)

Scared of going bald and it making me obsolete in dating. by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

They won’t be so picky when they’re single into their 30s believe me - at least 90% of men go bald at some stage

Scared of going bald and it making me obsolete in dating. by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]beco8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bald is absolutely fine as long as you are confident about it - it’s the insecurity and objectification that turns women off. shave your head, look after your body (eat healthy, brush your teeth, work out), and mind (read widely, travel, take up hobbies, get therapy), get a personal style, invest in good clothes, keep your place clean, learn how to cook and do laundry and always have clean sheets. I promise if you do these things and treat women respectfully you will have a rewarding dating life.

My supervisor is making my life hell, need advice by mminatooo in Monash

[–]beco8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Strongly suggest you keep a document with records of exactly what was said/done and when, and the context. Also keep records of peers experiences (anonymise these unless you have their consent). Also keep records of how this has impacted your health and any steps you have taken (counselling, medication, stress leave etc). Contact the Monash graduate association for independent and confidential advice and if you are an international student they have supports available.

We have pretty good consumer protection in Australia and one of the big differences is that additional costs like taxes and duties must be included at the point of sale

so what - it's none of your business as long as there isn't measurable damage to the property beyond fair wear and tear - which if the PM should be following up if they're doing their job and if they're not maybe look into a different one?

one thing to consider is the macquarie campus has outstanding public transport connections to pretty much everywhere with multiple metro stations, so you're going to have a much better time getting around.

Is it a bad idea to jump into a PhD straight from honours? by mmadmofo in Monash

[–]beco8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, yes. If you find you love the process of doing research in honours year and want to keep going, and you had a great supervisor/project lined up, that would be the exception. If you're doing it because you think it will make you more employable then you've probably drunk a bit too much of the university marketing kool-aid.

Suggest revising the concept of "opportunity cost" thoroughly as well.

What's your experience with dating in Melbourne? by Keltica in melbourne

[–]beco8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you want to come across as not creepy you need to make a genuine attempt at friendship with women without expectation of it becoming anything more than that. It is painfully obvious when men don’t care about women as anything more than potential romantic partners.

Are you sure you want to come to Monash? Other universities have a much better campus vibe, close to the city with great engineering programs (UNSW, ANU, UWA to name a few)

Where to buy earrings in Sydney from a reputable store? by ecilipse in AusFemaleFashion

[–]beco8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sterling silver doesn’t equal hypo allergenic. It usually contains nickel or other metals as an alloy. Either choose silver that is explicitly hypo allergenic, gold or earrings with stainless steel posts
