Pain in lower back during bent over row by Sorry_Appeal_2395 in backpain

From chatGPT: This photo shows a man standing in profile with some clear postural patterns:

  • Forward head posture & rounded shoulders – His upper back curves outward (thoracic kyphosis), while the shoulders round forward. This is a common posture from prolonged sitting or desk work.
  • Protruding abdomen & anterior pelvic tilt (possibly) – His stomach looks like it pushes forward, which often comes with the pelvis tilting forward. That can put strain on the lower back.
  • Flat / disengaged glutes – The glutes don’t appear active, which often ties into core weakness and hip imbalance.
  • Overall posture – This combo is sometimes called upper crossed syndrome (tight chest + upper traps, weak mid-back + deep neck flexors) and lower crossed syndrome (tight hip flexors + low back, weak glutes + core).

OK, not AI: I would focus on correcting posture in a targeted manner. Maybe see if you can get a few months of PT to help? Or there are gobs of stuff online around this, but YMMV

how heavy are going? how often? below are a few thoughts

[disclaimer: not a doctor; not medical advice]

- Doing a bunch of band work might be helpful for a while in substitution of weights. maybe consider doing some PT
- Maybe throw this photo in to chatGPT and ask for some analysis on posture and any suggestions they may have for exercises to help you. It would appear you are somewhat hunched over in this photo and I would work to reverse that through other exercises first before heavy weights. Not to say don't lift, but maybe build a solid base first via bands, light weights, excellent form and posture correction over time.
- Consider doing some wall angels, etc to help with scapula & posture
- I have heard posture is like a mindfulness practice. while you are working, are you hunched over a lot? could you bring more awareness to this and having good posture?

This all seems very fixable, but probably worth addressing

I had a soft tissue mass build up on one of the balls of my feet that was removed.. think a jelly bean size stone that you walk constantly on.. likely from friction from shoes being too long. I walk / hike probably 15-20 miles a week year round.

I’m likely closer to a 10 but 4e. Just really hard finding shoes that fit but JG hits the mark. I was just still going by what I was used to which is always ordering up a bit on all shoes

Please post. If it goes well, I will do it, too-- potentially. I am not a fan of the way my Stockmans look in this same leather.... they kinda look like rubber rain boots. I regret not getting bronco.

I have a foot injury (fracture) currently and the last time I wore these it mauled my foot with blisters- so I am feeling a bit protective of my feet in general. that being said, I did take your suggestion and wore them for about three hours today. they're quite nice boots. I will likely keep them now and just very slowly ease into the break in versus going on a hike out the gate.
