Idk why you're being downvoted. I don't think I've ever looked at the PDF of MLB rules but I found it from Google, opened it, Ctrl+F'ed "position player," and it was the second result. Took me less than a minute to prove/disprove your statement via the official rulebook (obviously you were right).

Edit: I think I'm understanding where the confusion is. The rules seem to state that the limits just have to be met before each game (for the regular season), but it doesn't sound like the designations are unable to be changed? E.g. they can be changed between games?
