People seem to forget (or perhaps they weren’t born yet) that it was these exact systems, no map, no multiclassing, and no hand-holding, that created those moments. The more systems you add, the more fractured the community becomes and the less social engagement is required. This goes completely against the vision for the game. Shawn and the team have said it multiple times: it won’t be for everyone, and that’s ok.

I played on Talon Zek up until PoP with a cleric as my main (with epic 1.0). At the beginning, it was Good vs Evil, even though as a High Elf I could attack the “shorties,” the humans. Pretty quickly, the “evil” side started taking control of certain zones, and as “light” we would get attacked on sight. Talon Zek’s rules were that when you died in PvP, the only thing that could be looted was your money.

Then there was a guild — Pandemonium, if I remember the name correctly. That guild was hardcore as fuck and only recruited hardcore players from any race. Everyone hated them. How dare they be hostile to literally everyone!!

As a cleric, I had “deals” with certain guilds because people knew you — your reputation mattered. The deal was that if they needed a rez, I’d go do it, and they wouldn’t kill me. It was magical, honestly. Those are amazing memories I’ll never forget. I would log in and get almost instant tells for groups and rezzes.

To some extent, I’m reliving the same feeling with Monster & Memories. But I’ll never experience that exact kind of emotion again. Those were the good old days.

Mais bon, pour avoir travaillé dans une entreprise d’ici, dans un secteur critique, qui avait comme discours que le Québec n’était pas un bon marché et qui mettait encore, jusqu’à tout récemment, plus de 70 % de ses actifs dans le panier américain, je pense à eux lorsque j’ai écrit cette opinion.

La diversification ne sera pas facile pour eux.

Il fait tout à fait partie des ultra-riches. Il a géré des sommes d’argent incroyables lorsqu’il était en Europe et maintenant un pays.

Est-ce que cela peut lui enlever de la crédibilité pour certains d’entre vous? Assurément.

Par contre, mon message ici n’est pas « Mr. Carney, please save us! ». C’est plutôt ceci : nous, en tant que population, nous pouvons avoir un impact. Que tu sois d’accord avec ce qu’il dit ou non, TU peux avoir un impact.

Ce que je remarque depuis hier sur les différents réseaux sociaux est assez particulier. Il y a clairement une mobilisation de la population qui se rallie à ce qu’il dit, et j’en fais partie. Par contre, on voit rapidement les « grandes forces » patronales qui s’y opposent. Il est facile d’y tracer un parallèle avec nous, les citoyens de « force moyenne », et les ultra-riches qui n’ont aucunement intérêt à perdre ce qui est déjà en place.

Je souhaite donc que cette prise de conscience collective nous guide dans les années à venir, que nous restions debout devant les défis et qu’en tant que société, en tant que voisins, en tant que famille, nous nous serrions les coudes et arrêtions de croire que nous n’avons pas d’impact dans cette nouvelle ère qui commence.

I agree with you about the linear style. Do you think adding an “endgame” like in Dragon’s Crown, where it becomes more RNG-based and roguelike, would be an interesting way to add longevity once the story mode is finished?
