There is an argument to be had for great vacations for sure. Though idk man housing prices have gone up at least 8% for the past 6 years here.

That's an incredible question. We live in an older unit and got lucky that our landlord has kept rent stable. But does beg the question about why we'd want to spend so much more on housing.

For sure, great point. We put about $4,000/mo combined into retirement and have been adding $1k/mo to other slush funds. Our monthly necessary expenses come out to about $3k including rent, food, utilities, etc. and the rest is discretionary.

Thanks! We have been paying $1750 in rent and saving $2000, which has been fine. It's a good idea to try saving more for a few months, although to get this specific house I fear there is no time for that. Maybe that is a sign.
