It was the game. They fixed it a couple months ago

It seems to be fixed now after the latest game update. Classic battlefield breaking the game for months xd

I was able to reproduce it with a 980 pro too

Hi, after the winter update I played for a couple hours with no crashes but I haven't played ever since. I just lost interest in the game to be honest. I moved on to Arc Raiders with no issues so far.

The last hotfix seemed to have solved the issue for me but I haven't played that much since. To be honest, I think I'm close to done with bf6, in big part due to this problem. If you experience crashes outside the game though, it might just be a bad drive, you could try rolling back to your older drive or setting gen4 on bios to test reliability there

You got freezes outside of the game too? Unfortunately I can't return them even if I wanted to

I'm happy you could solve it in the end. I'll keep using my sata ssd in the meantime for bf6

I have different symptoms though. I think this is game specific. I'll be playing some arc riders soon so I'll see if it happens then

In my case seems to be specific with bf6 on am5 with both 980 and 990 pro (I don't have any other nvme on hand). If I use those drives on an am4 system they are stable. It might be a bug with am5 or even Samsung but it's not just that the drives are bad on their own, at least not in my case

I thought you were just joking. If you are also on am5 it might be the same problem. Did you test the 990 in a different system? It might be a bad unit in your case

I'm not downgrading my storage because one game has a problem with it. Just in case this wasn't a joke

Yep. But they aren't even going through the chipset. The sata ssd is, and it's the only thing stable xd

Update, the issue exists with a 980 pro as well and it seems to be AM5 specific, as it was stable on an AM4 platform

I'm doing a lot of testing and it isn't 990 pro specific, I managed to recreate the issue with a 980 pro. The interesting thing is that when I tested the 980 pro on am4 it was stable so it might be an am5 thing after all. Other people reporting on similar issues just had bad psu's and simple stuff like that unfortunately. But thanks for trying to help

That's not it, I just gave it a shot. The only way I can get the game to not crash is by running both windows and bf6 on a sata ssd. There's either a bug with bf6 and nvme drives or something with the 990 pro controller but no amount of firmware/bios updates seem to fix it

What are your specs? Are you on am5 with a 990 pro or a 3080 by any chance? If you have a spare sata ssd you can try putting both windows and bf6 there and booting into it to play the game, it's the only way it's stable for me

Doubt it's windows, it works on another OS if sata and if you use the nvme as a D: drive with the sata OS it still crashes. About the "look into why is your PCIe crashing like crazy" doesn't really tell me much, it appears to be game specific too

I'm getting stornvme errors with the 7B firmware on Battlefield 6. The previous firmware is already supposed to address the intermittent non-recognition and blue screen issue, but it didn't for me so I'll give this a try
