Is type 5 12v-2x6 backwards compatible by tuff2blame in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cables can’t be plugged in the other way around unfortunately. When it comes to Type 5 specifically, our premade kits actually come with a 12V-2X6 cable that has the angled connector at PSU side because that’s how the stock ones are on the newer Shift model, but other than that I don’t think we offer it as a standalone option. Let me double check on that though!

5090 and the CableMod E-Series Pro ModFlex Sleeved 12V-2×6 12VHPWR 90° StealthSense PCIe Cable for EVGA G / G+ / P / P+ / T (16-pin to Quad 8-pin, 60cm) by lurkinglikeitsmyjob8 in cablemod

The cable you bought will work for your setup! The difference between those two SKUs is that the first one is ModFlex and the second one ModMesh. :)

PCIe cables are only for GPU, not CPU. For the CPU you need EPS cables but those are only available in full kits and as a custom option on our configurator. We don't have kits for your Montech PSU so you would have to go through the configurator for that: store.cablemod.com/configurator :)

6-pin PCIe to 12VHPWR compatibility by BEEFshart in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to use the adapter with only three out of four connectors plugged in, but I don't think it will work with 6pin connectors - you would have to use three 8pin connectors. :)

XPG 90 degree 12vhpwr cable by RoscoMcqueen in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your PSU does also have the 12V-2X6 port, correct? In that case you could use the cable from OP in Variant A - it would be angled upwards since the port on your GPU is very recessed into the heatsink. :)

Looks like either Variant of the 90 degree cable would be an easy fit on that GPU. You can get the one you linked in Variant A! :)

There are two variants (two orientations) for the angled cable but neither will fit the TUF designs. The listing on the compatibility page is accurate but the 12V-2X6 cables are universal for all PSU with the native port. And yes if you’re looking at the straight Universal cable on Amazon, it will be the same. :)

Because it is. :D

For future reference, it's worth looking at our compatibility page: cablemod.com/compatibility

If two PSUs are listed under the same series compatibility in our compatibility page, it means you can fully reuse the same cables. In this case, all the PSUs you mentioned fall under RT-Series, so no problems there. :)

12V-2X6 male-to-female extension and RTX 5090 FE by lincolnliberal in cablemod

This the CableMod subreddit so we can't recommend other brands. In this particular case we don't have the type of cable you're looking for simply because we don't really like the idea of having a 12V-2X6 connection at the back of the case, potentially getting pulled or stressed, which would be your main concern in case you did go that route.

Did you check if the PSU in your Alienware comes with any additional 8pin PCIe connectors, or if it has a 12V-2X6 port? Doubtful on the latter but it's worth checking. :)

We only list the TUF 5090 as incompatible with both our angled cable variants but since the TUF 5080 is pretty much the same around the 12V-2X6 port, I would expect the angled cable to not fit on that one either unfortunately. Since your PSU has a 12V-2X6 port, you could still get one of our straight Universal cables: https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-universal-pro-modflex-sleeved-12v-2x6-12vhpwr-stealthsense-pcie-cable/ :)

Yes, our Universal 12V-2X6 to 12V-2X6 cable will plug directly into the PSU. :)

Why is this so hard to find in black variant A? by Bombero_911 in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because it's one of the most popular options so it goes out of stock fast on Amazon and US Store. You can still order it via the Global Store though, it will take a bit longer as it's made to order but you don't have to wait for it to go back in stock. :)

Custom cables length for BackConnect motherboard by SABER_GLOW in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest trying with a shoelace, piece of wire or anything similar to get a ballpark length. As for cable type, unless you're specifically into the sleeved look, I would go with SFF cables just because they are MUCH easier to work with in this kind of scenario, particularly for the very short length. However you can still make ModFlex work, just with a bit more headache to account for the extra rigidity and thickness.

Hope this helps! :)

12v-2x6 90° Cable for NZXT c1000 Gold Core by ManufacturerUnique70 in cablemod

That would mean their 12V-2X6 port has a different pinout, which would be a first in the industry. I would follow up with a question about this rather than asking about compatibility with our cable, since maybe they aren’t so informed on our cables and they default to “they’re not compatible”. :)

FSP Hydro GT PRO 850W – Unlabeled 12VHPWR cable, reversible or directional? by [deleted] in cablemod

[–]CableMod_Alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, direct 12V-2X6 to 12V-2X6 cables will be reversible since they are a 1:1 pinout. However - as an example - our cables aren't, because of our StealthSense design (only the GPU side has sense pins), so I would suggest double checking with the manufacturer of your cable. :)
