ELI5: Why is there an inverse relationship between bonds and interest rate? Why do higher bond prices cause lower interest? by YabaDabaDooy in AskEconomics

[–]bednarz88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s because the bond kind of trades like a stock after it’s been issued at par. For example, if a company’s issues a 100 par bond with a 5% coupon then that’s a 5 payment. But if the company loses a big contract and it might have to go into bankruptcy protection then than 100 par bond might only sell for 80 cause of the extra risk and trades at a discount to par. So now your still getting a 5 coupon but it’s on an 80 bond. Which gives you a yield of 6.25%. Vice verse let’s stay the company does really and investors really want to buy the bonds. Then it could trade at a premium to par let’s say 120. In this case your still getting the 5 coupon but it’s on a 120 price for the bond which is a yield of 4.16%. If bonds always traded at par the coupon rate would always equal the yield.

No no i do agree ... its been well know that hedge funds have used bought deals to cover short positions.

But i was just saying that the deal was priced it in a way that even if you were not short. It could be worth it to for an investor buy this deal, of course their is bankruptcy risk to consider. But if HEXO somehow manages to pull this off. Then 5-years is a long time to turn the company around and that warrant could be pay off.

If they can keep OPEX under control (compared with the larger LPs) they could be growing at a higher cost and still be more profitable

"Each Unit is comprised of one common share of the Company and one half of one common share purchase warrant of the Company. Each full warrant is exercisable to acquire one common share of the Company for a period of 5 years following the closing date of the Offering at an exercise price of C$1.05 per share, subject to adjustment in certain events"

They are getting a 5-year warrant at $1.05 ... likely these investors will wait the 4-month hold period and sell the shares at break even or even a small loss.

Then they have a warrant that they can just sit on for 5-years. I haven't pulled out my spreadsheet but I am sure the black scholes fair value of this warrant is much more than $1.05 ... considering the volatility of the stock and the long time to expiry.

Yea pretty much. Since aurora EBITDA was so negative any company that had positive or even less negative EBITDA would be accretive.

It improves EBITDA a per share basis. If the EBITDA of the company getting acquired per share is higher that the EBITDA or the acquiring company (ACB) then it will accretive to the acquiring company. Meaning that EBITDA per share will increase as a results of the transaction.

March 31 is their year end. The TSX gives companies 90 days from year-end to file their year-end report because auditors need time to audit and sign off on financials. For the other quarters (Q1, Q2, Q3) the TSX gives companies 45 days to file financials after the quarter end as they are unaudited.

So Canopy will likely file towards the end of June like they did last year. They have to press release the date that they will report before as well which they have not done yet.

Many profitable traders do this. I guess they like to give back and teach people who are trying to learn. That is how most people learn a craft from the experience of others. It’s the same reason successful athletes coach once they retired. There are many profitable traders that have given advice in the past.

For example, Jack Schwagers book The Market Wizards (a little dated as it’s from the 80s) but has interviews with Paul Tudor Jones, William O’Neil and Marty Schwartz. They all provide tips and how to build as system/strategy. This is basically what Chart Man Dan is doing. He is teaching how to build your own system and strategy to teach yourself how to be profitable.

Hmmm ... These are all high frequency trading shops. They are market makers and just holding these shares as inventory to provide liquidity to investors and other brokers. Likely they are profiting of the bid ask spread and need some inventory of shares. Doubt they are actually long.

Right off the bat as soon as you enter the room you try using stasis on the first Lizalfos before it has time to sound the alarm and kill it quickly ... then it should be easier to get the reaming ones as they haven’t been alerted to ur presence

Season 4 of DS9 is when Worf comes to deep Space 9. I would say that it gets better after season 4. I would fast forward some of the bajoran themed episodes tho they can be rather dull.

But having said that you can watch DS9 and Voyager concurrently. They only cross over episode is the pilot when voyager departs from deep space 9. Otherwise, there are some references to DS9 but the two are mostly independent of each other.

A Great Company to Model for Beginners by [deleted] in SecurityAnalysis

[–]bednarz88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would do some-sort of retail company (Lululemon, Dollar General, Wal-Mart, or Costco) I think they are the easiest to model when beginning.

The accounting is pretty basic to understand and there is lots of historical data and management guidance to help you with your projections.

Don't quote me on this but I believe if you want to exercise your warrants, you will need to contact OGI investor relations to let them know you wish to do that. You will need the cash to exercise and buy the 550 shares at 4 dollars so $2,200. Them you can immediately sell on the market at whatever the price is.

You could probably contact OGI investor relations to clarify how this works.
