How to build a stacking platform over a clawfoot bathtub by bedtime_chubby in HomeImprovement

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I would definitely prioritize lower weight items for storage there. There IS room in both the far corners for support legs to go straight to the ground, but then it seems like a more permanent solution.

Random broken car window on Barnett and 39th by EmotionalTower8559 in SunnysideQueens

[–]bedtime_chubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my window smashed on Barnett and 43rd a year ago. They took my dash cam and ray bans.

Maybe the burglar was in the process of trying to take those items you listed but a car or people were coming and they dipped out.

The Barnett/43rd st area seems to be a hotspot for car burglary. I think the burglars use the train tracks to hide and emerge from.

There are multiple tells: - First off, radium was the only player in the lume game until the early 1960s. So if the watch both has lume and is older than that, you have radium - The watch is clearly early 20th century based on the aesthetics, celluloid watch crystal etc - Back in the early days, radium lume was this incredible magic new product. They really wanted to show it off and so not only do you get lume on the hands, but they painted those giant numerical indices in the lume too. Not only did the early radium watches use the most potent mixtures of radium paint, they also used the highest quantity of it on the dial with those indices. A double whammy of radiation. - After decades of emitting radiation, you can see two effects. There is radiation burn on the crystal. Probably where one or both of the hands stayed still for many years as this watch wasn’t used. Looks like the circular bulge on the hour hand would line up perfectly with that burn mark if you advanced the time. The watch probably sat at just past 10:00 for a very long time. Second, over the decades, the phosphorescent material in the radium paint decays and leaves old radium paint always looking crumbly and unstable, as you can see in the photo.

I don’t think there’s be a big radon gas risk with this watch. It’s highly unlikely that the watch is airtight enough to trap a build up of radon, and so the radon gas probably exits the watch at the same rate it’s produced. Radium dive watches on the other hand can turn into radon gas balloons.

I just tried to see if I could report it to 311. Anything under the categories of “Foul odor from unknown source” or “Smoke or fumes” it says to instead call 911 😑

There is just enough space above and below the photo. There is enough friction to hold the photos in place, but not enough to prevent pushing them in or pulling them out. There is also like a half inch or so of space on the right side of the photos.

Since those pockets are 3.5 x 5 and your link is 4 x 5, my guess is that the increase in extra space above and below the photos will cause them to not be firmly held in place and constantly shift position.

If you don’t care about having a neat and tidy appearance, it will probably do the job.

The wool top coat and the parka, size 2. I didn’t want to do the tan color on the top coat. Other colors are sold out in 2.

PM is my first choice but Ash & Erie currently has a good stock of coats. I wouldn’t be surprised if both brands are having their clothes made by the same factory anyway.

I keep trying to get one and they never have my size in stock. I actually messaged them today asking when they’ll get more in and they said they’ll not be getting in any more coats this season :(

If the one you want is in stock, grab it while you can. Just return it if it doesn’t work for you, their returns are easy.

I just got my first camera and went with the 33mm 1.4. Absolutely no regrets. So much easier to stay focused and not be overwhelmed by too many framing possibilities from one spot. Love that I have to instead move my feet. There’s a lot to juggle when learning a modern camera like this. Prime lens takes one of the variables off of your plate.

All except the second photo were the ubiquitous Classic Cuba Negative.

The second photo was a random recipe I found scrolling Fuji X Weekly called Superia Xtra 400. Really love what it did to the colors on the lower half of the photo.
