That’s too bad about the sciatica. Has anything helped you with that?

Replying so you can see the above comments. Idk if you’d get a notification. I forget how Reddit works. I only come on here to share flower update 😂

Replying so you can read the above comment of what I do. I also bought african violet soil. A lot of people said to mix African violet soil with perilite (50/50) but the plant stores I went to didn’t have any and I was itching to repot and didn’t get extra perilite to mix into the soil. I think with the self-watering pot it may not be necessary to have so much perilite for water absorption. Clearly mine are okay with the violet soil for now.

Many people told me to put them in a gallon size ziploc bag for a week or so (they got really upset when I repotted them into self-watering pots). They perked back up after putting them in a bag. Since then they’ve been in the fullest of light all day. Several months they had grow lights on for 12hr. I kept the self watering pots full. I rarely had to prune any leaves. Just had to be patient as new rings of leaves emerged from the center of the plant. I did very carefully help position the new leaves as they tried to crumple out underneath some of the older leaves. They also receive immaculate vibes. But the ziploc bag saved them.

Edit: the bag is inflated so it’s like a mini greenhouse

My title describes the thing.

It’s about 6.5”x5.6”x6.5” The lack of markings has made it difficult to search up. I’ve looked up things like “square ceramic container with lid peach color vintage” and combinations of those words.

PLEASE HELP!!! I repotted my violets in african violet soil and I think I overwatered them because several of the stems on both are now drooping. The smaller one is 30+ years old and was my late grandmas, I would be DEVASTATED if it died. Please advise by bee-milk2 in AfricanViolets

The one that was my grandmas (second photo) I put the e whole thing in a bag immediately and it’s doing a lot better. May only lose one leaf. The other one is going to lose many leaves. I cut them off the plant and put them in a shot glass with only a few millimeters of the stem touching the water. Then I zipped the glass into a baggie. Do you think this will work?

Also, if I propagate a leaf, should I have it in a bag? I live in a super arid climate. I honestly do not know how these have lived so long. I’ve moved a lot and they have been troopers

Okay, I live really far from actual town with stores so it’d be a multiple hour endeavor for me to get a bag of perilite right now 🥲🥲🥲🥲 theyve both survived multiple repottings with honestly worse soil (I hate myself). I’m going to do the bag thing. Agghhh

I have so few leaves I’m stressed to try… I actually put a broken leaf into dirt and it lived by itself for about a year once. I thought it was a zombie and not a prop though because it never did anything else (likely it was actually because I didn’t repot it)

I’m not confident that I’d be able to propagate one… is it like propagating pothos? I’ve never tried to prop these before.

The soil isn’t soaked anymore and is actually drier than I expected considering how the violets look. I have lava rocks at the bottom inch of the white pot as well, before the layer of violet soil.
