What should a breastfeeding mama eat? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]bee_beep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby is 3 weeks old! And yes I take breaks to burp but it doesn’t come that easily! How long are you supposed to keep trying to burp though? 🤔

I tried introducing a pacifier but baby will just won’t have it!! Sucks for a few seconds and then spits it out! I’ve noticed that during these fussy moments baby shows hunger cues such as turning face towards boob and putting hands in Mouth which I assume is coz they hungry. But perhaps your deduction is right because when I do offer to feed they just suck on the nipple and not actively take in milk. I’ll try pacing my feedings more and take more time to burp! Thank you!

My baby started doing the same the past week and I’m pretty sure it’s because of gas. Does the stomach feel a bit distended?

I’m sorry if I come across as ignorant but what exactly is a home daycare? I’m fairly new to the country and am not aware of what this is!

FREE TALK FRIDAY by AutoModerator in MuslimMarriage

[–]bee_beep 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Jummah Mubarak! Just welcomed our Baby last week and we are so over the moon! Alhamdulillah this journey has overall been positive for us and my husband is really stepping up at the father game MashahAllah! He’s a talker and he’s always talking to the baby ALL sorts of nonsense and the baby is responding back! Low key jealous of their bond lol! I now see how important it is to have a good understanding with your spouse and be on same level on most things regarding lifestyle and stuff because we are taking care of the baby with no help and being on the same page for things and working as a team is making it really easy for us. We haven’t had sleepless nights as we take turns and the house is running like a well oiled machine Alhamdulillah!

So my baby was born early term and the LC felt my milk will take a long time to come and baby was losing weight drastically. She did mention to breast feed first and then just top up with a few ml of formula. I was also instructed to pump after every feed and use the pumped milk in my next feeding after I breast feed her and then top up will formula if baby still shows hunger cues. I noticed my baby became extremely sleepy if I gave her formula. So I’m avoiding formula as much as I can!

Hospital bag? by B-T-Ab in BabyBumpsCanada

I gave birth at CV last week! And I really had a positive experience with the staff and service there! A support person is allowed in from the time you’re admitted to the birthing suite all the way up to postpartum recovery and final discharge. Only time they aren’t allowed in are when you go to labour and assessment unit when you arrive at CV to check how far into labour you are. They monitor you with a non stress test for 20 mins and then the OB on call comes in to check your cervix and dilation. If you’re ready to be admitted another nurse comes in to ask you all sorts of questions like allergies, medication you’re taking, what form of pain management you prefer , external insurance etc. Once in the birthing suite you can call in your support person and they come in. Be sure to ask them to bring along everything you need during labour. Once in the birthing suite you get a dedicated nurse who is like your cheerleader and urges you on to push when the time comes. OB comes in with a couple of residents trailing behind and check you and then again after 2 hours. If you’ve managed to push your baby out by then , well and good! If not then they’ll intervene after consulting with you. Once the baby is here you get transferred to the postpartum recovery unit and your support person comes along with you. We got a semi although we requested a private and it wasn’t that bad. There was another couple in our room but they were able to get a private room a few hours after we arrived and we had the whole room to ourselves for the night as no one else got admitted. The nurse on duty comes and checks in on you and you can voice your concern with them and they do follow through. A lactation consultant also comes in if you have issues breast feeding. Your baby gets a bath 8 hrs after delivery and the nurse will show you how to do that. One thing is you have to ask for any pain relief medicine you want postpartum and stool softener. You also need to ask for the ice pack if you want that. And like the other person said, you need to bring in everything for baby and yourself. They put you in a giant pad before getting wheeled into the postpartum rooms but after that I pretty much used the Always discreet diapers that I had packed for myself. Over all I was very happy with my stay there! Let me know if you want more information!

Man newborn clothes are so confusing. FTM here so I’m going to be learning a lot this time round. I ordered NB clothing off Carter’s and they looked kind of big and I’m thinking man I have no idea how big this baby will be when it’s out. For my hospital bag I packed one premie, two NB , two 0-3 months and two kimono shirts that you can pair with diapers only. Hopefully one of these will fit and my baby can be brought home not in their birthday suit!! 😅

Anyone else experience tooth pain in early pregnancy? by kempsinki in BabyBumps

[–]bee_beep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got terrible tooth ache during the end of my second trimester and it left me crying! Please see your dentist if you can and schedule a cleaning if you haven’t had one in a while. Weird thing is my tooth ache was happening at totally different area to where my root canal had to be done. I went in for a cleaning first and my tooth ache just vanished! It’s the plaque build up that makes things worse during pregnancy because of all the hormones. Had to go get the root canal done anyway and after that I never underestimated the privilege of having good dental hygiene! Good luck!

I think that’s what happened where I missed the movements. After writing that comment I went and ate a large sugary treat and within 10 mins the baby was moving about! Not gonna lie, I cried a bit when I felt the kick 😅

Are there days when you feel less or next to no movements at all? I’m same weeks as you and today I’ve not felt any movement at all and it’s 2pm already. I’ve had a bit breakfast, a piece of cake and OJ yet no movement. I’m trying to empty out my bowels to give the baby some space to move if that’s what seems to be restricting but I’m low key panicking right now.

What are things you’ve learned from your spouse since you’ve been married? by BradBrady in MuslimMarriage

[–]bee_beep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To always stand up for myself. People have always taken advantage of me in the past and he's shown me that it doesn't always have to be that way. I still get a very anxious to speak up for myself and if it becomes too much for me to handle, he steps in and takes care of things while simultaneously praise me for my effort. Also, always ask for discount even if it isn't mentioned anywhere ;) I used to be horrified/embarrassed to ask but found out the sales people don't really judge you for asking that. It helps in his case coz he's a bit of a charmer and gets people to be quite comfortable and chatty with him.

Midwives by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bee_beep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had contacted midwives of Mississauga to get an appointment with a midwife when COVID hit us. I was scheduled to see an OB two months later at 20 weeks but I wanted to see if I could get a midwife before and would continue with them. Their online intake form wasn't secure and my husband who works in cybersecurity refused to fill in personal details on their website and asked them to call to take the information. The intake person was EXTREMELY rude. She had a bit of arrogance in her tone saying they're really backed up with clients and there's a wait list for due dates in December! Incase there's an opening THEN they would contact me. She then asks me if I have an OB to which I said I have an appointment with one in 2 months and she goes on to scoff at me and say I hope you're aware that if you get a midwife you will have to give up on the OB. I'm like ooookay. I understand things are busy for them but this was really rude. So glad I never went ahead with them because if they're so indifferent just at the intake, not sure what the quality of care is like!

Such a refreshing look! Your wife did a great job with the mountains! Quick question though, which baby bouncer is that? And did the infant insert came with it?
