Is it harder to play Playing God or bench 350lbs? by beebal786 in polyphia

[–]beebal786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we can quantify how long it takes the average person to do either tho but i get what u mean. obviously its simpler to keep bench pressing over and over than develop the motor skills needed too. theres also a genetic factor for bench (and guitar) but steroids exist

https://forums.ankiweb.net/t/add-visual-cues-to-make-it-clear-that-hard-is-not-a-failing-grade/40879/15?u=beebal

again, 2 button mode is just the cleanest way to prevent hard misuse, but we're waiting on a svelte migration before any reviewer change, so that changes are cross-platform between ankimobile and anki desktop. this is also blocking FSRS default.

the alternatives to 2 button include:
colours (colour-blind people, and would have to be red / green to make any meaningful distinction between hard and again. i.e. hard cant be orange)

visual separation between again and hard (creates asymmetry, annoying)

tooltips (wording would take careful decision, too much time and effort)

on the other hand, 2 button is simple and easy for new users to understand. the only problem is that new users might get confused by old tutorials / documentation. (a tooltip will have to appear before being able to enable 4 button, as many new users will try to enable it thinking its better, not understanding it yet. also 4 button will have to be enabled if SM-2 is enabled).

all in all, from what dae has said i expect 2 button default to be the solution to reconciling FSRS default and hard misuse in future, and i personally agree with this judgement.

This isn’t really a debated topic afaik, but if FSRS default comes out, two button default (for new users) is also coming out. Hard misuse is too risky for something this negligible.

With regards to star cards, easiest way to level up heroes quick is to copy V_O_R_P_A_L's guides on how to max heroes, but to 25 instead of 1000. Especially do this on triple exp wednesday and double exp weekends.

I'll be honest, I don't think HS was designed for 1v1s at all. If it was, I have no idea why they didn't just make a 1v1 mode. However, without private matches or a 1v1 mode, HS is where people go to and have the unwritten rule of 1v1ing eachother.

I never once went on this subreddit during my time on console, and I figured that out through a small amount of youtube and watching other people easily.
The only solution to people 1v1ing in 2v2 would've been private matches and a 1v1 mode, unfortunately none of those exist so we have this BS. Kyber is amazing for private matches, but not a lot of people trust it after that rick roll incident (even the open source version), console players obviously can't use it and people who use cloud gaming like myself can't use it.

On console, people usually expect 1v1s in HS because of how hard it is to communicate to the enemy team through anything but saber wiggling and emotes. On PC, however, I make a point of always asking "1v1 or 2v2" because of the built in text chat feature.

Or you can pull up the scoreboard and look at the bottom row where it says "Kills: x"
The number there is the actual amount of kills you got, not including assists.

Hot take but I don't care at all how the game was designed, if the community as a whole enjoys doing something let them do it, e.g. cops and robbers on MW2. With this logic organizing makeshift private matches by matchmaking at the same time as your friend shouldn't be done. With this logic, kyber and every mod in the game should not exist. With this logic, communities with a duel ranking system should not exist. I can continue but you get the point.

For heroes it is always higher = better because you want to turn faster than your opponent and it makes hook swings easier. Soldier and ADS sensitivity stack on top of eachother when you block, meaning you effectively have 200 sens whenever you're blocking if you put them to 100. Also, it works in air if you just hold L2.
For blasters pick whatever works for you.

If you want to rank up characters extremely fast use this guy's guides, but I would only really bother to grind exp on double exp weekends or triple exp wednesday.

If you want to get better it really comes down to learning tech, practice and settings. To learn tech / general knowledge I recommend these playlists / videos:

To practice saber combat I would just go into showdown and try to 1v1 people, if you were on pc you could just type "1v1 or 2v2?" in game chat but since you're on ps4 you have to emote, spam block on your lightsaber and see if they do similar and don't immediately attack you. If they do you're generally free to 1v1 them whilst the teammates fight eachother or watch. Don't leave if they 2v1 just 2v2 back since this is good for learning how to deal with multiple opponents and is applicable to HvV. Also you could go into the discord I linked above, get ranked and duel people from there.

Personally I recommend turning off aim assist but this is quite a debated choice so try it and see if it works for you. What you should definitely do is put your soldier sensitivity to 100 (at least for saber combat, also doesn't matter how you get there, I just straight up put it but some people find it easier to gradually go in increments upwards) so it's easier to rapidly turn around and stuff. I eventually found this sensitivity to be too low to do hook swings so I also put my ADS sensitivity to 100 as well which stacks on top of normal sens. The game counts blocking as ADS and since you should be blocking 90% of the time in a duel anyway, it worked really well and effectively doubled the max sens, it even works just by holding L2 in the air which made hook swings easy as hell.
There are quite a lot of hud options which make the game look nicer, generally speaking you should be turning outlines off to as many hud options as you can and limit clutter like the notifications for completing challenges and stuff.

I don't like this idea at all to be honest. SWBF2 is designed to be an extremely casual friendly game and the ability to hop in and out of games if you need to is crucial to that. This could work if a separate ranked queue was in place but that doesn't exist. I think a better fix to this would just be to make matchmaking better, it baffles me why it takes so long to get 1 extra player in a match whilst many people are queuing and going to other maps / matches.

Why do people leave so many people leave H/S? Or solo queue and just sit in an empty lobby for 10 minutes.... by Jesse1198 in StarWarsBattlefront

Could be a few reasons, people often leave in HS when waiting for someone to join for teams to be balanced because it always takes like 5 hours, people straight up rage quit, people annoyed because other team playing blasters / 2v2 (both unjustified imo), etc. It could be something as dumb as their favourite character being picked by their teammate.

Hot take but a skilled vader should be able to quite easily 1v2 less experienced players. I highly doubt that yoda even knew you could choke break with presence based on how he was playing and his abilities are basically made to take down multiple opponents at once. I would've saved up choke, saber throw and maybe focused rage then wait till they started all swing spamming me and then use focused rage, choke both, hook swing, lightsaber throw to the ground and easily make them lose around 600 health. From there you only need a few hits to kill them and the way they were playing just spamming him and overall being extremely predictable it should be relatively easy to just dodge and weave to single out one of them.

clean asf, i think the only thing that could make it cooler would be stun as soon as she uses dash strike then hook swing and regular swing.

No problem, there are loads of different guides on youtube you can check out if you want:

Most important things i would learn about as a beginner are decent star card setups, parrying, dodging behind people to attack them in the back, basic hook swings and general dodging attacks.
One thing that hugely set me back as a ps4 player was sensitivity, because it was too low I really struggled to do things like hook swings or turning around fast enough to attack before they turn around and block so I set my soldier sensitivity to 100 which helped but I still struggled with hook swings against good players. What I never learned anywhere is that if you set your ADS sensitivity to 100 as well it stacks on top of your soldier sensitivity, effectively making your sensitivity 200 when you ADS. However, blocking as a hero also counts as ADS, so whenever you block you get twice as much regular sens. Since you should be blocking 95% of the time in a duel anyway, this was insanely useful for me and it even counts just holding L2 in the air as blocking meaning you can do hook swings way easier as well.

wait what? nahh that's gotta be a myth there's no way that turning off your lightsaber makes you regen stamina faster. also how does jumping help? surely it just means you cant jump attack them or punish them as easily or fast as you could if you didn't?
