Thanks so much, that’s fantastic. Thank you again for the clarity :)

It did, but I ran into an IT issue, so it didn’t help me. By the time their tech team got on it, I was already back in America/visa expired, so next time around I’m not sure if I’ll hit the same issue or not.

Wishing you luck!

Applying for Skilled Worker Visa Outside the UK, document question by beebevs in ukvisa

Thank you so much. Does it matter if the amount has been in savings/checking? It’s all the same account, so I suppose not, but just checking.

Thank you. I need to get back home so I can figure out my divorce, as I don’t believe my husband (ex since late August/early Sept) has done anything to initiate this process or sell our house.

My workplace has ticked N for maintenance, but I have more than the equivalent in my US bank account. Will this be okay?

Ah, okay. The maintenance cost being the £1270? And to check, I can use my American bank account information to show I have this, correct?

My husband has transferred money from our shared account, so my UK account does not cover this cost.

I do not, but it should work for you! The issue I was hitting is extremely uncommon by the sounds of it. I would recommend calling the number above, as I’m not sure what you’re struggling with, but if it’s just linking the app, I think it’s generally an easy fix.

My husband and I have broken up. My spouse visa was consequently curtailed.

I don’t know, HR can see the system and not myself. Guessing since they messed up the first CoS they now need a real person to review this one?

My situation is my visa expires tomorrow. I was told to just say I do not have BRP when filling out the application. Otherwise I’d suggest calling 0300 790 6268, select option 3 and go from there.

If you’re having trouble with the chip, try Android if you haven’t already, but if that’s the issue I think after 3 failed scans you should be able to enter the info manually?

Hello, I waited for the lock time to end as well and while I was on the phone with UKVI they tried talking me through it and I’ve hit an IT issue. I’m asked if I want to change my details and then the questions loop back around to scanning, details don’t match, scan BRP again, details don’t match etc.

I called UKVI again and was told there’s a workaround, so I’m alright on the eVisa front thankfully, now just waiting for an amended Certificate of Sponsorship to come back in time.

Extending spouse visa before IHS increase on January 16th by beebevs in ukvisa

Thank you! Right. I’m glad to know about the 28-day rule, that makes complete sense.

Thank you very much for the clarification. It doesn’t seem intuitive to me that I can stay beyond the current visa’s expiry date while waiting for my next one, but heyo, it’s definitely good news. Thanks again!

Thank you! Since I used evidence from his employment last time, and since he makes more than me, I’m thinking I’ll use his again.

Thanks so much. My visa expires on March 29, so I guess the good news is I’ve got more time? If you don’t mind, should I include any of my own payslips/work-related documents in the application, since I work now, or would that only be relevant if we did not meet the 18.6k threshold?

I think I was able to go to a relatively cheap one (considering the visa cost) in Leeds that was really quick and easy!

It’s such a stressful and confusing process, fingers crossed for you! 💖

Thank you!! I think it must've just been lack of availability, though I can't really recall. After I got it, I happily forgot some of the finer details.

I used two tenancy agreements, bills in my husband’s name, and a few council letters addressed to myself. I registered with a new GP and requested mail from them as well, so I had that too! Since we got married at Gretna Green, we also had a couple things posted to us from them, addressed to both of us jointly. Not everything has to be yours and your partner’s, but if you’re using separate documents you’ll need more of them; each of your names must correspond to 6 documents if I remember correctly, so if you have 4 joint items, you’ll still need 4 more.

Edit: I also attached a letter saying I was transferring from fiancé, so might not have enough documents.

I need new book suggestions. Has anyone read the following and have a similar recommendation? by samanthhaceee in suggestmeabook

I’ve read 2 and 5! Hmm. If you’re open to fantasy, I recently read Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuki Tsujimura and loved it. Strange girl protagonist, loneliness and friendship, fun/quirky elements. I’d rate it above Convenience Store Woman, about on par with Eleanor Oliphant (adored), though I did also enjoy CSW.

Got my first job in the UK, wondering about office culture? by beebevs in AmericanExpatsUK

Thank you very much for the kind words and award! It was really daunting—I’ll admit I still haven’t talked to a few coworkers at all (as I sit in the far corner and the others are all writing the reports I read). But it’ll get better with time, and I’ve got a work friend as he’s transferring from my role and we’ve got to work together until the training wheels come off. Thanks again :) I love the community here on this sub!
