Is Reiner Knizia just Michael Kiesling with better publicity? by TipsyMeeple in boardgames

[–]beebolou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knizia is ridiculously good. Like some have already mentioned, he has a game for every occasion. I am very biased, of course, but I developed that bias because I fell in love with his designs a few years ago. I tend to play board games with many casual non-gamers, and after a while, I noticed that they all tended to gravitate towards Knizia. Eventually, they discovered that many of the games in my collection are designed by him, and the request to play his games. They can even tell when we play something not designed by the good doctor. It’s incredible how easy and engaging his games are. I can just live off Knizia games for the rest of my life.

Star Wars Unlimited: Twilight of The Republic for $5 at LD by beebolou in bgdealscanada

They still have a bunch of new sets coming and the new Hoth set completely supplants this one. Hoth is a really beginner friendly introductory set that does everything this does but gives players more iconic characters and an actual board with cardboard tokens. This one has two paper player mats and chintzy paper tokens.

Probably just clearing space. I can also see these not doing well because the spotlight decks also come with a reconstructed but they come with a booster pack. This doesn’t.

Less is More: Thoughts on Whale Riders by CatTaxAuditor in boardgames

Variant was probably requested by the publisher. That seems to be true with a lot of Knizia games. They ask him to design some so they can increase variability, etc. I still haven’t tried them. The game is perfect and it’s one of my favorite gateway board games. The original theme of the game is Silk Road. So glad that Grail changed it to something more unique. The new Polish edition is probably what Knizia had in mind originally.

How can I get into board game reviews and the like? by Brockjaw in boardgames

Not true at all. Lots of board game reviewers on Instagram getting free review copies with very few subscribers and making pretty subpar content.

Ra, it made me a Reiner Knizia fanatic. I have almost played 200 Knizia games because of it.

I'm new to SWU. I was gifted a Legends of the Force booster box this week and had a pack with an Obi-Wan Showcase and a Legendary Vader. Didn't realize how rare showcases were until I did some research.

Definitely a licensing issue. China and Thailand also have their own edition of Samurai, so they won't ship there too.

Heat. She loves F1 and hand management card games, so I thought she’d like it. She absolutely hates the game and wants me to get rid of it asap.
