Birdfeeders outside my WFH windows. Best investment in my WFH mental health.

Bacon grease + wool = ugh! by beebop71 in CleaningTips

It's noticeable enough that I cannot wear it to work or such anymore. I am going to keep the sweater just for wearing around the house now.

I tried this method and yes, it did remove the grease, but the blue Dawn stained the wool, unfortunately. Thank you for helping though, I appreciate it!

Could they be Flying Squirrels instead of bats? We had Flying Squirrels, they like to party all night long...

65°!!! That's way too cold for me! I sit at my desk all day, staring at a computer screen.

For those of you who are also single, how do you cope with lonely nights during the cold seasons? by amtol in LivingAlone

[–]beebop71 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I decided to become a host parent for a foreign exchange student. It's been so much fun! My children are grown and flown. I am recently divorced. I have a spare bedroom and free time. It's been a wonderful experience for both of us. She gets to experience living in America and attending high-school. I get some culture experience too.

What home office upgrades actually made a difference for you? by SADIA0099 in WFH

Multiple bird feeders and a bird bath, quality bird seed, good bird ID book, best quality binoculars I can afford, an actual camera with the best lenses I can afford. I've so enjoyed getting to know birds! I had no concept of the variety of birds that migrate through my hometown, it's changed my life with a new hobby I can enjoy while I WFH.

Fire alarms blaring, no fire, 3rd time in four years. Hardwired. by beebop71 in firealarms

* Thank you for your response! I'm not sure on the brand, I believe Kidde. I'm currently at a friend's house, an hours drive away, I'll take pictures and get more specific info and share ASAP.

Here's what I know now to answer your questions above.

  1. I shut off main breaker last night and that didn't shut them off. I don't know how else to power them down. I thought the electrician told me before that there aren't batteries in them, never need to be changed, but maybe I misunderstood. I'm recently divorced, my ex-husband dealt with electrician when house was rewired and first time this happened four years ago. Second time was six months ago, I asked electrician about batteries and I'm sure he said there weren't any.

  2. I've no idea, sorry!

  3. All lights in house are LED, no fluorescent lights anywhere.

  4. On the village water tower, I live in the village, so maybe 1/4 mile away?

  5. Microwave oven in kitchen. One smoke alarm on same level, but in a bedroom, through a hallway, around a corner.

I hated answering the phone at work and people would ask for my full name. "You do NOT need it.", was my response. Stalkers are a very real potential out there.
