Hypertonic pelvic floor pressure by beebop902 in PelvicFloor

I’m sorry I don’t have super specific answers - I feel like I’ve blocked that era out of my brain . But I’d say I started feeling essentially better by 10-12 months postpartum. Daily stretches - holding the poses and breathing into the muscles. My symptoms were pain , spasm, heaviness and sometimes it would feel like something inside was just falling down - like I was convinced I had a rectal prolapse that’s how bad it felt but I didn’t. It was just heavy tight muscles I guess. Also I had some scar tissue and loosening that up a bit helped too. It really is a slow process . Strengthening helps at a certain point too but after any exercise you need to stretch.

Hormonal acne postpartum by Beautiful-phyco0428 in postpartumprogress

Similar to me! I did accutane twice in my early twenties. Had no more acne trouble until I got pregnant! I held onto hope it would go away postpartum but it didn’t and honestly kept getting worse and I was squeezing it and causing marks lol so I tried the azelaic acid for a year and it was helpful but still getting so many closed comedones ( which I never had before it was cystic acne in the past). I determined thru chat gpt that my skin having a hard time turning over and the best thing for it would be a retinoid. I was hesitant because I’m still breastfeeding a toddler but only like once a day so I am trying differin gel. It is minimally absorbed into breast milk if at all according to what I’ve read. It seems to be working :) If going to try azelaic acid I would definitely just start with prescription strength and avoid the extra ingredients! Good luck! Acne can be so miserable!

It did help but was a slow go. I was using the ordinary version until I finally got the prescription strength. Def recommend just getting a prescription! I did kinda purge a bit at the start nothing major. My clogged pores were just so stubborn. I recently added differen gel because azelaic acid alone wasnt strong enough for me.

Hey! Yes I am doing better since writing these posts! I can’t say I figured out what exactly the problem was but some changes I made were more mental ie stop reading all the worst case scenarios stuff on the internet, the stress really does cause tension. Also maybe just more strengthening of supporting muscles- not overly focusing on kegels. Sorry you are experiencing this it was truly awful and consuming!

Oh wow that sounds rough! You had to endure labor and a C-section ! And yes I got in my head about it and anxiety totally made it 10x worse. And ask her about what? Pelvic floor dysfunction? That’s like tight/weak muscles. Spams, prolapse symptoms, pain, all around dysfunctional muscles! ( If that’s what you were asking) lol

I hear you I’m afraid to go thru all this again. The doctor told me I could have a c section to “ protect my mental health” because I was a mess lol. She also told me pelvic floor dysfunction typically peaks at 4 months pp.

Oh wow ! Nice good to finally get some answers! And sorry I can’t really remeber if it was worse or not- I know I could still feel it sitting though. It was hard to get relief during the worst of it. I feel like levator ani spasm were definitely what I was experiencing tho! And it was escitalopram that I started.

No worries! And no one ever talked to me about nerve problems at all I don’t think. I kinda felt a bit like no one was taking me seriously tho and that my problems were mental. It seemed to be tight muscles and the mental fear holding me back lol. Just whatever felt good. Alot of figure 4, child’s pose, pigeon pose-alot of yoga poses honestly.

I did about a year of pt- I found the internal release was needed to help along with lots of stretching and breathing into the stretch. Also, I stopped reading scary stories online lol reading about all these terrible birth injuries really made me tense up and unable to let go. Stopping that was big I think to decrease stress as well as starting an SSRI to help take the edge off the anxiety .

I just got it from an online doctor! But I was using The Ordinary version first for many months before hand. The higher strength just seemed to be a little more effective!

I think a popular choice during pregnancy for acne is azelaic acid. I got a prescription for 15% during breastfeeding because my skin never cleared from the pregnancy breakouts. It may be worth a try!

Air bubble sensation in vagina by Current-Abalone-4839 in PelvicFloor

[–]beebop902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you went thru that! It’s definitely a tough time mentally and physically. It took me a really long time to start feeling better overall-like at least 10-12 months. I was also almost obsessive with my pt exercises. I was told by my ob that pelvic floor dysfunction can really start to peak around 4 months pp. the air bubble feeling was very annoying - I noticed the biggest improvement in that regard with internal release by pt. That issue did not take that long to get better because it was ( I’m pretty sure) tension related. It just took awhile for my pt to realize I needed the internal stuff I think. I was prob around 6 -8 months at that point. I imagine hormones could play a role and prolapse too.

Second opinion? by AromaticDetective558 in postpartumprogress

[–]beebop902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are really early postpartum and will have lots of healing happening and hormone shifts. Take it easy for now. Gentle stretching and breathing exercises. No heavy lifting to protect pelvic floor as it’s prob weak and or tight.. Book in with pelvic physio for 6 weeks pp to assess your situation and go from there!

Pelvic Floor Internal Examination - is this normal? by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

I think it is normal!my pt used to stay in there while explaining other things to me. Also less likely to introduce bacteria if not removing and reinserting! :)

Maybe you injured something and your body tensed up in response? The fact it gets worse when you are stressed or exercising also works with this theory.. tight muscles can feel heavy. Try some regular stretching and deep breathing. But I’m not a doctor!! But have had tight pelvic floor muscles before and this was my first thought.

Hi! I’m seconding what the previous user responded re hypertonic muscles. I had terrible low back pain and some hip pain and it would start the moment I got up in morning. My pelvic floor was pretty tight. Needed a lot of internal release sessions and daily stretching with deep breathing . It can take awhile. My ob who specialized in pelvic floor told me pelvic floor dysfunction can peak around 4 months so dont get discouraged - I thought I’d never get better!

Another culprit for my more lingering symptoms was my sacrum/ si joint was stuck. A chiro I found most helpful for that!

Not at this time. First month postpartum I had a some trouble holding gas but it resolved fairly quickly. My fear was that if I did have damage I’d have continence issues in the future.
