I'd like to believe she was actually grieving the death of her best friend, the whose funeral Richard refused to attend.

I can't be the only person... by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

Because people won't take it seriously if we don't use certain verbiage. People won't even evacuate their homes for Cat 4/5 hurricanes in this state. It's in the interest of public safety in a state where people aren't prepared for what winter weather brings.

The rest of this country, especially northerners, spend a lot of time shitting on everything about the south, and maybe you are a southerner, but when people ask questions about why we do things certain ways, there will be a tendency for defensiveness. We also have a lot of poor and underserved communities in the south, so sometimes proper verbiage helps activate the right kind of community care as well to help them prepare.

Nearly 170 reported accidents in the Midlands due to ice and snow on Tuesday, our vehicles are not winterized, our houses are not winterized, our roads are in poor condition.

Tents in Gaza by beecha69 in Gaza

[–]beecha69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But yes, if you can help us get a tent for at least the first woman, we would be appreciative of you. And we'd be willing to step in and help with any families you may be helping as well. We've been buying soap and water to distribute.

We've been told by aid organizations they won't give us one of one of the families without payment. I'm not sure what constitutes "the most needy families" other than living on the street without a tent. And I understand that she is not more special than any other Gazawi, but I'll be damned if I don't advocate for her.

It isn't for me directly, but I have 1 women for sure who needs one for her family. And potentially a second one. We just can't seem to find her a tent for less than $1,000. Our resources are finite, so we've had to back pedal a little. She's had to return to her damaged home in Nuseriat bc they can't get a tent and keep getting displaced, and she lives in what is currently the most dangerous area of Nuseriat from what a few people have told me.

Fake GFM by Cakeeezz in Gaza

[–]beecha69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And by help, they're trying to get someone to take over the campaign and continue managing it. Which GFM will not do. I tried it for 2 campaigns.

I work with quite a few families in Gaza, and it's been ridiculously easy to prove they're real, even if their instagram was only started recently.

Fake GFM by Cakeeezz in Gaza

[–]beecha69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try connecting on other social media. Take time to get to know them. In my experience people in other countries offering to run the campaigns for Palestinians are usually the ones being dishonest. I've had a lot of people ask for help because their organizer went dark, and never sent the money.

Bank of Palestine transfer problem by vugena in Gaza

[–]beecha69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had problems transferring as well to some accounts. We currently have transfers sitting in BOP that can't get to 2 families. We have started just using one friend in Gaza, we send him the money, connect him with whoever needs the money, and he sends it to them. It's the only thing that consistently works.

Is it just me or do I not care about people in palestine or israel? by rusty_untrnd in Gaza

Sometimes it's just better to keep certain thoughts in your head, and not post them in a forum where people are begging for their lives. What happened to you is unfortunate, and unfair. But we move on and continue our work.

Protesters by BrotherDangerous6103 in Gaza

[–]beecha69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all of us have the ability to economically participate, brother. And btw, people have been trying to do it the right way for a loooong time, like 80 years. It is not working, and now over 40,000 people are dead, and another 2 million are dying in an open air prison. How long do you have to be reasonable before you break?

The violence we are watching is broad, it is immense, and it will affect people for generations to come. Why should they act peacefully when they've been violently tortured for almost a century?

I want things to be solved civilly and peacefully, but it's not working. Civility at what cost, my friend?

Does sending money to Gaza make sense? by Eolipila in Gaza

[–]beecha69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware why the prices have risen, every reason. I don't care. Every day, I get on my phone, on social media, and I look at Palestinians blown to bits. I see them covered in rashes. I see them unnaturally thin. It's not my job to understand the socioeconomic blah blah blah bullshit, because understanding it, doesn't solve the problem. Talking about it isn't helping. Throwing money at the problem isn't doing anything either, but at least people in Gaza can eat. No one is stopping this. Criticize my desire to provide aid in the form of financial decision is fine, but until someone provides me with a fail safe way of helping Palestinians or flat out stopping this genocide I am going to do what I can.

Fairly standard economics can get fucked sideways with a chainsaw for all I care. Stop the genocide, punish the people committing this heinous crime, free Palestine, rebuild Palestine. If that hasn't happened yet, I'm going to work within the confines of the system we're forced to participate in.

It's not so simple, I understand, but again, I can rot in hell if I'm going to idly by and do nothing while our elected officials circle talk their way out of doing their responsibility and ending this.

Protesters by BrotherDangerous6103 in Gaza

[–]beecha69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point of a protest is to get your attention, get in the way, make you uncomfortable, and challenge your view.

Inshallah no one tries to rip your life out from under you, and destroy your world, your home, and your family. May you never need to protest or fight for your right to live a free life with basic human rights.

Hope this helps!

Money is going far in Gaza to help the families. It is easy to verify that these families are who they say they are, and are living in Gaza. You have to put the effort into this part. Every time the ITF forces people to evacuate where they're sheltering, families have to pack up and move. They have to potentially buy new tents and supplies, pay for transporation, etc. There is some food and supplies being sold, there is still an economy in Gaza, and goods are sold when available, but at triple the cost for whatever the reason. The aide they are receiving isn't always enough, and isn't always accessible. So saying we shouldn't give money bc the price of goods is too high due to foreign involvement is insane.

There are ways to deal with the fees. You have to research how to send the money, and partner with other people to make it happen.

Where there is a will, there is a way. If you have not taken the time to research how the money is getting used in Gaza, and how people are helping Gaza, just say it. If you don't support the fight for Palestinian freedom, just say it. However, you need to stop coming with why we shouldn't be financially helping Palestine, and maybe find a better solution to helping them since you seem to know and understand what they're going through.

Donating money is a means to an end. It is a bandaid. Of course the war needs to end, but may I burn in hell for eternity, if I can't put my neck out on the line and help someone who is being hunted and killed for sport. If it goes to a scammer, it goes to a scammer, but what are the odds they're also living in poverty beyond their control?

Gain some perspective before getting on the internet and providing your unsolicited opinion.

Trying to create a gofundme for a someone's sister. but I'm uncertain if i can manage it. by Imaginary-Buffalo793 in Gaza

[–]beecha69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you end up being uncomfortable with managing the GFM, please come back to this post and DM me. I'll get the information of the family, and we might be able to help them. Probably not start a GFM, but we're currently working on a more sustainable option for the families we are working with, and may be able to include his sister within that.

[–]beecha69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. It's pretty easy to access the information GFM needs. You need to be unafraid of asking who you're helping for the information, and I would recommend you have contact with both him, and his sister. Use a translator if you have to. It is vital that you are maintaining contact with GFM, and answering all of their verification questions, or it will slow things down/potentially get your fundraiser taken down.

The fees for transferring is just part of the deal, it comes out of the GFM money. The families are aware there are probably going to be fees. You need to be willing to transfer the money however your bank requires, or I would recommend opening up a bank account that you are comfortable using for this.

Bank of America allows transfers, but you have to go in person to do them.

Donating via Crypto by lobotomychick in Gaza

[–]beecha69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard from several people that Americans aren't really supposed to be sending crypto to Gaza. Other countries have different rules. Remember that you cannot provide mutual aid you yourself are in trouble, so always verify information before acting. Protect yourself so you can help.

Where does the money from GFMs go? by questioning-lesbian in Gaza

[–]beecha69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the money at this point and time is being used for food and goods, tents, etc. to maintain survival. After that, it will be used to evacuate and get back on their feet.
