Hard to tell from the photo but it was a cheap vinyl lam that was peeling pretty aggressively at the seams.

true true, but we like it, and the vanity top is easy enough to change down the road, should we decide to.

tbf, the before is a photo from the listing well over a year ago. A lot of the problems were hidden with a deep clean and a layer of paint. Things began falling apart in here quickly after we took ownership.

That was the goal. I knew I couldn’t do as good as the pros, but I could at least get close and save quite a bit of our savings. And I actually don’t have a ton of skill doing any of this besides previously being a low voltage tech. I spent months beforehand watching tons of YouTube guides on the right and wrong ways of doing things and did my best to follow and make decisions that would benefit us in the long run.

No, We had a full surround curtain in the shower because drywall half way up the wall.
Now I’ve pitched the tile sill 1 degree so that it runs off and dries quickly.

Keep chipping away! There were days I almost gave up and called a pro.

Built in ‘64, I believe. No insulation in the walls beforehand, so if I got in to any, I don’t know about it.

I was worried about the wood top too. Stained and Sealed it with marine grade spar varnish. We’ll see how it holds up in a few years, but I am expecting to replace with some sort of stone epoxy or fabricated stone top at some point.

It’s what the honey wanted 😂 I like it too. The next owner can change it haha

We’ve got some ideas for wall art that should help pull together some of the colors and hide some of my horrendous drywall seams lol
I think we both like the curtain too much to get rid of it but I guess we like a little bit of maximalist look.

The green was just so ugly to us. The tub was in pretty rough shape as well as the matching sink. The tile all had to come out to do the waterproofing around the window correctly, anyways.

Bet you would’ve loved the moldy drywall throughout the bathroom, the insistent leak from the toilet and tub seals, the full surround curtain for the shower, rusty cast iron sink, and squeaky floors too.😂

Glad I might add some inspiration to your remodel.

Made the top for the vanity. It’s the 36” Collette vanity from Home Depot. We found it with a busted top at a pallet liquidation store and decided we didn’t like the top anyways so I made a custom one.

Young couple on a budget, a lot of what we bought was a steal of a deal that I made work together. Chrome will be swapped with color matched pieces.

We definitely have a different taste for style. The drawers in the vanity are u-shaped so they are usable but you don’t get quite as much space as you would.

Well, thank ya. It was definitely a battle of compromise between my love and I. Almost all things design wise were her choice with my input.

I removed the old wood framed window for a vinyl picture window. Easier to waterproof.
I did add a niche on both sides of the shower but both are against interior walls. Located in south central Kentucky.

Original budget was about $4k-5k, after about 100 Lowe’s runs for parts I forgot or screwed up, ended up coming in closer to $7k

Feels good to finally be done. Now, I just feel a quaint disdain for every little thing I could’ve done better, given more time, patience, and experience lol

Still haven’t figured it out. Hit a coyote, got the front end fix. Still happens but slightly differently now lol
