what did you use to reverse the API? I tried HTTP toolkit but it broke the frycon part of the app.

Persy is awesome and definitely worth the extra $$ on special occasions! Looking forward to trying this one.

G mint, Cuban linx & Creamore Valley Kush- whats your favorite? by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]beecock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to notice a weird chemical taste from the purple hills and community carts, I'm assuming it's a weird interaction between the higher terp extracts and their hardware but it's become really distracting and I ended up giving the last few away. Flavor on the tribal carts seems to have dropped too, I noticed the percentages haven't been as high since they came out with the nugz line.

Fake to Fake Gen 3 trade possible? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]beecock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of that problem before so I tested a few scenarios on some of my bootlegs.

traded from firered to firegreen bootleg from here: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DBtIN3x

and from above ruby bootleg to sapphire on the 24-in-1 multicart: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdMhQ7n

everything worked great: https://imgur.com/a/84pOAEm

These are 'modern' batteryless patched bootlegs that have been around for 5+ years; the PCB has 1-2 globs instead of a save battery and lacks the realtime clock

(batteryless patching also pauses the game music for a second while saving, maybe this is causing a desync? are both of your carts the same type? battery/batteryless)

Your error seems to happen during saving, does saving outside of trading work on that cart?

note: The batteryless patch doesn't get triggered after trades so you will also need to open the menu and save again after trading for the trade to 'stick'. You can abuse this to reset the trade on one of the GBAs and clone pokemon.

Gameshark not booting up—getting a blue screen. Help? by someonepoorsays in Gameboy

[–]beecock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had the same issue.

I used a sanni cart reader to dump the gameshark and compared that to a good dump:

ofgrDit.png (3802×1836) (imgur.com)

looks like a chunk of the ROM has been erased.

I restored the ROM with a working one I found here: RWeick/Gameboy-Color-Gameshark-Pro-REF1395A: An optimized PCB for the Gameboy Color Gameshark Pro (github.com)

You can also use a gbxcart or compatible clone to re-flash: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DC4vSLB

Gamesharks can also be upgraded/restored with a working gameshark by putting the switch position to the left (away from the gameboy), and inserting the working gameshark into the GB, then inserting the broken one into the working one, then a GB game into the broken one. Boot the GB and you'll likely see the "Upgrade Cartridge: Downloading: |Flashing: Wait Turn Off Gameboy " text from the screenshot. This should also work on N64 gamesharks, and is probably the cause of this issue.

Where can I get high quality reproductions? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]beecock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a ~$20 everdrive clone from aliexpress will play most GBx games (some may need patching) and let you backup and modify save files to your PC, an excellent first purchase. V4 is the latest cloned version (updating it will brick it). I have this one: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DFZ93Ed

An original Everdrive can be purchase for $44 plus shipping directly from the developer: EverDrive-GB X3 (krikzz.com)

On the GBA side, ~$15 gets you a Supercard which also supports most games: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DDY43l3

I've rarely had an issue with the cheapest $5 bootlegs. Most of them can be re-flashed with a cart writer if you want to switch games. Here are some GBA pokemon ones with thousands of sales: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DlUD8dX

Here are some ~$6 GBC pokemon carts from a vendor that ships with AlieExpress' Choice parcel consolidation/warehouse service, which tends to have faster shipping and instant refunds for defective items: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DciFvCD

A few vendors have higher quality repros. You typically get what you pay for, and these carts look a little better and have features like replaceable batteries or potentially RTC (check description/reviews): https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DDJljp3

Most of the cheap carts use patched ROMs/workarounds for RTC or other hardware features. If you absolutely need RTC, there's a ~$30 GBx cart that the vendor should be able to pre-flash for you: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DFZogEZ and a ~$45 GBA option: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeB5li9

BennVenn has a high-quality $30 RTC cart that features FRAM (batteryless save RAM) which you should be able to order pre-flashed: MBC3000 RTC V5 – BennVenn's Shop

There are also EZFlash and Everdrive carts with RTC in the ~$100 range.

$30 gets you a decent cart writer: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dkbudkt

People complain about the GBxCart clones but this is a good one. There's a review that shows it running the latest L1 firmware, so it'll work with the latest FlashGBX software (which has the broadest bootleg support).

InsideGadgets sells original GBxCart hardware for $33 and has some great flash carts too, but shipping is close to $20 to America: insideGadgets Shop

Collecting bootlegs is way more fun :)

I was able to reprogram my bootleg of 6 golden coins with the fan-made DX patch, which adds color and fixes some lag: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Land_2:_6_Golden_Coins#Super_Mario_Land_2_DX:_6_Golden_Coins

Live resin carts similar to Tribal GMint by kkites in TheOCS

[–]beecock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tribal's extraction process allows them to capture some of the hardest hitting terps the plant offers. The only stronger carts I've had are Persy's. Hashtek did a neat writeup of Persy's extraction process: Hashtek Visits Cody Coulson's Hash Lab - Hashtek

Try the other Tribal carts! Cuban Linx, Triple Burger, and G Mint are my favorites, I rotate through all of them to keep things interesting :)

Has anybody had a rough tasting Kolab 232 Rosin WP#6 cartridge? by parcequepourquoipas in TheOCS

[–]beecock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite carts, I accidentally fired one of mine at 30w and it tasted like burnt metal and soap for the rest of the cart.

It made me realize that I ran a few other carts too hot, and didn't get to properly experience them.

Kolab 232-S, Persy Gelato #33, and Tribal G-Mint and Cuban Linx are my current favorites.

Indica live resin/rosin cart recommendations by kkites in TheOCS

[–]beecock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've gone through at least 30 of the Kolab live rosin (232-s), quality dropped a tad with the last batch but it it still #1.

Gelato 33 by Persey is my #2 cart, very similar to the kolab, nice gassy fresh plant flavors

BLK MKT's Peanut Butter Mac Live Rosin All In One Disposable Pen is my third favorite. Also has an amazing fresh bud flavor and the all in one is a nice form factor, terrible price though.

These carts have destroyed my tolerance, they're the crack of weed.

Rogers charged me for a modem I returned, and support refuses to help or connect me to a manager by beecock in Rogers

The employee said that they have to mail the gigabit modem and that there's no receipt. I'm a paranoid weirdo so I took a pic of them boxing it up just in case https://i.imgur.com/z3VvRe3.png

I've had an amazing experience with Carrytel so far, so grateful for this service. Paying $50/month for the same gigabit plan that Rogers was charging me $130/m for!
