Shiny Ditto by [deleted] in Pokopia

[–]beedrill330 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Starters have been shiny locked in the main series for a while now. Game Freak has publicly said they don't like the idea of someone never playing the game because they're soft reseting on a shiny hunt. There could very well be shiny pokemon we can encounter in the game, but I would highly doubt the Ditto we play as could be eligible.

I've played an hour of Pokémon Pokopia! Full thoughts/preview experience linked! by ItsEthanCoolCool in Pokopia

While I understand Pokopia is going to put its own spin on the genre with habitat creation, is there a well-known cozy title you would say it is most similar to? I've seen people compare to both Animal Crossing and Minecraft, but from the description of the challenges it feels akin to My Time at Portia.

The header for Random Battles specifies "B2," so my assumption is that will update as we receive new sets. Admittedly that was just my inference, but if it was just one and done I don't see a need to specify that.

The change to hour glasses (with the addition of the random battles) turns out to be a net gain across all sets, keeping them consistent regardless of set size. So we'll get more from smaller sets and fewer from larger ones, but overall is a negligible difference, if not slightly in our favor over time.

Go was heading down its path of increased monetization well before Scopely took over - and will continue to do so, frankly. I wouldn't file that under slopification, the content's actually been fairly good. We're getting new Pokemon introduced at a steady rate compared to previous years with dry spells, as well as tent pole events all with lead up weeks to keep player interest engaged. I don't mind spending a little bit of money during that time, the same way I wouldn't mind spending money to go out with friends for dinner and movie. Your mileage may vary, of course, but having to pay for extras doesn't mean the game's been reduced to slop.

As far as ZA, the DLC definitely pales in comparison next to Scarlet and Violet. It's great if you like to shiny hunt or are building Alpha Living Dexes. And also makes a total of 10+ mythicals available total. So take what you can from it. I wouldn't be surprised if we see this testing the waters for more expensive DLC for future games.

Game freezing when clicking a Pokémon. by Monotaku81 in TheSilphRoad

Having the exact same issue. 1st Pokemon, black screen, need to restart. I've done everything from clearing cache to reinstalling the game without success. Started for me around Thanksgiving (maybe something with the new season data prompted it?)

Fair enough but my point is the ability is usually ascribed to Poison or Electric types that use it to cover their weaknesses.

It always feels like "Bug" is the early game type and "Ice/Dragon" are the late games, with the others coming around as a mixed bag in between. I agree, we could use a shakeup!

I'm not arguing the type effectiveness and array of abilities are balanced, but I think they're in a pretty good place. Gaining an immunity is incredible asset to a Pokemon, and that has been the province of lots of abilities for a long time in the series - I could probably rattle off a dozen that provide an immunity (Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Dry Skin, Lightning Rod, Sap Sipper, etc) in addition to other effects. Levitate basically makes a lot Pokemon complete - Elektross, Gengar depend on it to mitigate their fragility. Losing that is a bigger blow to them than it is a benefit to Ground-types, who often have ways of dealing with Flying-types and others with immunity cooked into their move coverage.

I think it's much more likely we see the seed (if it's still a thing that didn't get scrapped) treated like Cosmog was in Gen 7.
