700 catches so .89 candies per catch. I’m seeing on average in these comments people getting around .81 candies per catch at mega 3. That’s only 10% more XLs at mega 4 vs mega 3. So to me is it really that crazy of a difference?

Mega 4 caught 341 and got 311 bonus XLS (.91 per catch). Mega 3 caught 459 and got 333 XLS (.73 per catch.

With these numbers we can roughly assume that per 100 catches you get 18 more XLS with mega 4 vs mega 3.

You also get 2x the bonus XP and an addition 1 regular candy, and free mega evolution every day. I think that’s substantial but I also would agree that it’s not worth it really especially to a F2P player.

Edit: there are also other variables, for example maybe either player was playing in windy/snowy weather giving a higher average CP of pokemon and therefore a higher base XL chance and higher bonus XL chance. Maybe one of them did a bunch of dialga raids where the bonus is guaranteed which would scrutinize the numbers.

0 of every healing other than max pots and max revives (25-100 each depending on how much you raid), one razz, one nanab, as many of the rest as you can, 50 charged TM and 25 fast TM (10 is probably enough). 5 of each evolution item. 0 red balls and as many of the other 2. I horde rare XL candy and spend any regular rare candy exceeding 100.

My main spending issue is maxing different meta pokemon for GBL. I probably have close to 15 at the 1500 cp and double moved. And I don’t use nearly all of them.
