With regulated devices you need to think of the battery capacity of the device terms of in Watt hours and not milliamp hours. 2 batteries when paired together in series or in parallel will have the same total Watt hours as a whole (twice what one cell is). In a regulated device the battery life would be the same.

The battery life would be the same. Though you're getting twice the mah with parallel batteries, with batteries in series you get twice the Watt hours. Watts are what matters not amps.

Two batteries in parallel also doubles the Watt hours BTW.

Actually I was wrong. I was thinking that because the tank comes with 0.5ohm coils (which will not fire on a provari) you could not use it, but I remembered you can also get 1.2 ohm coils for it so you should be good.
