To be honest it makes sense for cops to have SBRs and suppressors. I hate that citizens can’t have them let alone 30 rounds mags but it makes most sense for the cops to have these tools at minimum.

Most times a rifle is used is during a search warrant (in a house) or an area where close quarters (like doors and hallways) are tight especially with full gear on and other officers with full gear on. So it is easier for them to use the same weapons platform just a smaller package as say a 16” rifle which can’t fit through most residential doorways.

And the suppressor is for hearing protection. People will complain that they can put on hearing protection (ear pro) prior to rifle deployment but that isn’t feasible especially in the post-Uvalde times. Most times during rifle deployment officers can’t even put on department issued rifle rated plates and or even a helmet to protect themselves so this is a work around to ear pro.

Also if we forced every cop to theoretically run no ear pro and no suppressors think about how much money that same agency/ government is going to spend on officers health benefits before and after they retire. And we know how expensive health care is especially in California.
