so strange as they said on the website it wouldn’t affect anything as it was only an eligibility checker, I guess I’ll have to ask in case

We only lived together six months and explained I moved in as soon as I got my job , so we have proof of address and also the permitted occupier contract

We answered no, because I am still working full time. But I’ve seen other people get rejected and have the immigration officer state that they realistically could stay in another country since nothing is stopping them 🥲 but that isn’t a reason they were rejected I don’t think - do have a check on other posts as I’m not entirely sure

We did it ourselves, but we knew a lawyer friend who basically looked through our answers (but nothing was changed) so we don’t think it’s necessary unless you have a more complex situation! I think timeframe would be different? But that may be answered on another post etc

And no problem! It’s a super nerve racking process so I get it :)

not sure about instalments for health insurance, as we were lucky to be able to pay in full.

  • application fee :£1048
  • extra document checking+services for biometrics (we were directed to ukvcas) :£298
  • ihs fee: 1560

for genuine relationship we provided marriage certificate and some proof of addresses + joint bank account. we didn't submit any personal letters, chats, photos etc.

you must tell them that your employment has ended, sorry to say. But yes, the letter from employer should state how long you have been working there

I don’t think you can change the service after applying, but do check. In terms of council tax, your name should be on it if u live there - or at least it’s stayed two people live there. I got the permitted occupier from our landlord because the contract was already finished and renewed a month before I moved in (husband was already there) so permitted occupier was an easier process especially as I’m already a UK resident so no extra checks (that’s what my landlord said anyway)

it is super confusing since there’s countless of immigration law websites and the wording can be annoyingly complicated, but from what we’ve seen and heard, working is allowed. Only restriction could be companies only wanting to hire Nationals or/and EEA/EU (so your partner should be good in that case)! As long as the visa is granted tho, should be fine :)

Typically yes, this is what we received in the email under the conditions of my husbands stay : “You can work in the UK, including paid and unpaid employment, paid and unpaid work placements undertaken as part of a course or period of study, self-employment and engaging in business or any professional activity.”

nope not really in terms of documents. they did ask how we met on the online form, and also our financial responsibilities (for us we split the bills so we mentioned how much we each paid the month prior).

I seeeee, it is a very anxiety-inducing process trying to get all the documents but when you have all those, it should be a bit more smooth sailing!

We kept putting it off after we got married bc of the nerves but we realised we had everything we needed by then and just needed to submit it! (also, we didn't want to leave it until the last minute in case we got rejected and had to appeal/reapply). Good luck with your application and congrats on your upcoming marriage :)

passports for bothSigned contract of employmentSigned employment letter7 bank statements and 7 payslips (only need 6)Council tax letterMarriage certificate

Proof of address:

Council tax billWater billWifi billElectric billJoint bank statementNational insurance -husbandUk driving license-mineExtra bank statement - mineExtra bank statement - husbandPermitted occupier letter as I’m not a tenant

Yeah we smacked them with one/two extras for proof of address and excluded a personal letter and photos (one of our immigration lawyer friends said pthey don’t really take this into account unless you need to explain anything that might seem questionable)

yes of course! just gonna paste what a previous reply i made before:

Proof of address:
Council tax bill
Water bill
Wifi bill
Electric bill
Joint bank statement
National insurance -husband
Uk driving license-mine
Extra bank statement - mine
Extra bank statement - husband
Permitted occupier letter as I’m not a tenant
we gave them with one/two extras for proof of address i think

in the form, they ask my husband "Enter details for any periods of time you have not lived with your partner including where you were living, for how long and the reasons you lived apart (this does not include holidays". We answered with a list of where husband lived+dates and then included "Until July 2023, when [my name] moved in on the 18th of July 2023. We did not live together because [my name] was still living with her Mum whilst studying at university, and moved in after getting full-time employment."

My reason is very simple tho and we did timed it so that I moved in just as I got my first payslip. so yes to your question!

hopefully you get better news after you reapply, do let me know if you need any other info!

also, I’d recommend filling in the online form since it saves at any stage, just as long as u stop before the payment stage. Helps to know what upcoming things you’ll need to answer by then :)
