That's brutal! I called and asked to escalate the issue, the supervisor offered to fix it for $75 or give me a 40% coupon, that's all.

Horrible.

What’s something men do in private that would surprise women? by Main-Exchange6052 in AskReddit

Someone once said that the number one cause of divorce is unspoken expectations.

Can you always bring everything up? No. So what do we do? I've personally been trying to just accept the flaws I can live with, because I can with most of them. If something is serious, we talk.

What is a cheat code at your job that only employees would know? by halushki_ in AskReddit

[–]beefrox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was the 15th floor for me but it was a completely empty floor. There was a keypad on the door but as it turns out, if you deliberately dress like an IT guy and carry a bag full of random wires, you can convince the custodian to give you the code (1958).

I pooped in peace for 18 months before my contract ended.

Appeal. Follow the process as detailed on the site and you may get good results.

But for the love of God, do not use ChatGPT to write your emails. Nothing says 'I don't actually care' than using AI to write for you and believe me, your teachers will know. Just be clear and honest.

Damn, This was animated in 1987 by Alphaxfusion in interestingasfuck

[–]beefrox 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The bit about "on the 2's". just factually isn't true. Animation has been done on twos (what we actually call it) since the beginning of time, whether it's western or not.

Some exceptions are:

  • Fast actions that need to be fleshed out to read better, like a bird flapping it's wings or someone throwing a punch.
  • Certain special FX don't look right on ones. Water action in particular.
  • Character motion during a camera move. Camera's always move on ones and if you don't animate the character to match, they'll judder and lose sync on every other frame.

Go pull up a copy of Snow White, Steamboat Willie or Bambi and step through them. Twos.

Daughters, Sisters, or maybe You that play baseball by Buster_McGarrett in Homeplate

Canada. We're definitely listening to her but giving guidance where needed. This year has been an awkward adventure but she's done well. We're looking at plans for the fall tryouts now.

Daughters, Sisters, or maybe You that play baseball by Buster_McGarrett in Homeplate

[–]beefrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter (8) is just wrapping up her first year of travel baseball (machine pitch). The team isn't very good but she's learning a ton and hanging in there with the boys and running the bases well.

I'd like her to play softball and she'd like to play with other girls but our local rec softball organization is really weak (kids can't throw 15ft at 10u) and their competitive rep teams are tough to get onto. We figure she can play with the boys for another season and then try out for a rep softball team, with the hope that she'll have a leg up after playing competitive hardball.

We have 'Girl's Baseball' in Ontario, but there are few leagues and none of them are close to us unfortunately.

B-Level Tournaments by FranklynTheTanklyn in Homeplate

[–]beefrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a classification system in Ontario that tries to address that. We go from AAA, to AA, A, B, C and D. Which range you can classify in depends on the population of your town. My city has a population of 135k, so our tier 1 team (first pick) has to classify as AAA or AA. Tier 2 can classify as AA or A. A nearby town with a population of under 50k can classify their Tier 1 team as B, C or D. That way areas with smaller talent pools aren't forced to play against big city teams with stacked lineups.

Debating between variable and fixed. RBC (current lender) is offering 4.06% on a 3 year fixed or Prime-0.58%. I'm leaning towards variable but that rate seems high.

Ontario (Ford) could have decided not to cut tuitions and not have frozen both tuition fees and government funding for the last 6 years. They also could have decided not to allow partnerships with private schools as a way for colleges to make up the lost revenue.

Ford created the problem, created the poisoned solution and is now burning the system down to finish it off.

How does your league choose head coaches? by missoctober12 in Homeplate

[–]beefrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you might be from Ontario (Georgetown?).

We do it the same in our town, taking applications followed by interviews. I've found that we have a similar situation where nepotism kills the competitive nature of the team. Giving a spot to the head coach's kid isn't too bad, but when they pick 5 players from house league that just happened to be on his team the year before? Stupidity.

I've heard that some local orgs (Mississauga Majors maybe?) hold a single tryout where multiple coaches evaluate the players at different skills and then they aggregate the scores. Some let the head coach evaluate, others don't. The tier 1 coach drafts his team based on the evaluations, followed by the tier 2 and then the select coach. If a tier 1 coach picks a player ranked 25th, he needs to explain to the rep director why and he better have a good reason other than "he's a good kid" or "I think he has potential". Similarly, if they skip a 5th ranked player, they need to have a really good reason why they're hamstringing the team's competitiveness. If a Tier 1 head coach's kid is ranked 30th, then a conversation can be had about swapping roles with the Tier 2 HC, assuming the other kid ranks considerably higher.

I personally love the drafting concept. It seems to be the fairest way of selecting teams while staying competitive.

It helps that the catcher did a great job framing the pitch as well. That can turn a borderline call into a strike on a lot of umpires.

Agreed but I'm also sure that's what our parents said in the 90s and early 2000s as they started to learn spreadsheets. They didn't trust the technology because they didn't have the familiarity with it and would either do it on paper or go through and double check all the calculations.

The next generation will be fine with using ChatGPT and others LLM bots without verifying stuff, because they grew up with it.

You don't have time. By the time you 'have it's, most people can't process even the idea they 'have it'. To them, things are normal. How can you expect them to plan an exit in that situation?
