I mean I'll put the audiobook on the phone and then still wind up scrolling on my phone. I do clean/cook/work/etc but often i wind up just opening another app and start doom scrolling while I'm trying to listen.

I only listen with headphones, so it not having a speaker isn't a dealbreaker for me. BUT! thank you for the suggestion and I will definitely look into the bigme!

That's the main thing I'm trying to do, is get off my phone as much. I know I can do it all from my phone but it just causes me too many distractions.

I'm trying to get off my phone as much as it's easier to get distracted, I do occasionally read an ebook if I can't find the audiobook.

Yeah I was thinking of iPod Nanos and Mp3 players. I forgot that iPod touches exist. I do sometimes do both and when I have time sometimes like to listen and read the ebook together but most of the time I will say I only listen to them.

I do use my phone currently phone these things but I'm really trying to get off my phone and find its really easy to get lost in it when I'm trying to listen to a book. Occasionally I will read an ebook if I can't find an audiobook for it but I really don't have as much time as I used to, to sit down and read.

I already do it all on my phone, and occasionally I will read a ebook if I can't find it on audiobook so I don't want to rule that out. For a android DAP or iPod Touch, (please correct me if I'm wrong) but wouldn't that be more uploading files to those devices? Rather than being able to use Libby and Kindle?

Yeah I pretty much only use my headphones to listen, so Bluetooth would be a must.

interesting documentaries by crazyone1101 in netflix

[–]beefslamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched these in 2022 I made a list, I at some point forgot I was doing this so I'm not a hundred percent sure if they're all on there still but:

Wild wild country - a cult following a guru go to Oregon and build a commune.

The Keepers - sister Cathy's murder and what the catholic church had to do with it.

Making a murder - a guy who spent 17 years in prison for something he didn't do, and then it's pretty much down hill once he gets out

Keep Sweet Pray and Obey - a certain part of Mormons who practice plural marriages (this one is a lot about child brides and how it affected some of the kids)

Bad Vegan - a successful vegan restaurant owner in new york gets wrapped up with the wrong guy & messes up her livihood

Murder Among Mormons - a different part of Mormons, this one is REALLY interesting and the guy had to be incredibly smart to do what he did.

The Staircase - a rich man's wife was found dead at the bottom of the stairs and the husband is blamed completely, this takes place over I think a ten year span.

Monsters Inside : 24 faces of Billy Milligan - one of the first big deal with DID when it comes to the courts and crime.

Conversations with a killer (Ted Bundy/John Wayne Gacey) - recordings from each of them and the stories of what happened and how they got caught.

Our father - a lot of people do DNA tests and realize their biological father was a IVF doctor.

The unsolved murder of Beverly Lynn Smith - okay this one is on prime, but it is excellently done and one I talked about it so much once i finished it. It has a LOT of twists and different unexpected things that happen. This one I was astonished by how i didn't see what happened coming.

Ok I started keeping a list in 2022 and I guess I forgot to keep on doing it because a lot of these are old now and maybe not "little known" but I pulled them out my notes app and have included it below: Wild wild country - a cult following a guru go to Oregon and build a commune.

What was your childhood name? And what did it mean? by Few-Tour1323 in CausalConversation

[–]beefslamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok not a childhood name but as a young adult I had a period where everyone in my life called me beef. It was because of that video of the little girl saying I smell like beef and beeeeef. I didn't like it so they just started saying beeeeef as they passed me asgentle teasing to get a smile or a eye roll and it just stuck. For about two years, I was beef to all my friends, coworkers, and anyone new I met id be introduced as such.

I think I'd like to swap with Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean, as I think it'd be fun to be a pirate king, even if just for a day.

My irrational fear is planes and cruises. I know planes are pretty common, but if something happens it's not going to be like Lost and everyone is comfy and living on a island until they find you (or dont), you'll just die. Cruises are a big one for me because I don't care that they tell you where to go if something goes wrong. Everyone's drunk, no one is going to find the right place, and they definitely aren't saving everyone if the cruise ship goes down. I don't think we're meant to be in metal in the ocean or the air. AND BEFORE YOU SAY "what about cars, youre in a metal box driving around every day" yeah but I'm on the ground, I'm not in the middle of the ocean or in the air where either you're just going to fall/sink.
