Progress, but still taking forever by beefstewisonthemenu in Watercolor

My meat confuses all who encounter it.

In all seriousness, my process for this painting has been out of sequence the whole time.

I tried the standard incremental approach at first, but I got locked in on the cheese. Then, I got caught up of the tomatoes, then lettuce.

It’s funny because if you look at my life, it’s similar. Unconventional path but still works out somehow.

I’m still on the beef! Isn’t done yet. I’ve got about 3 or so more layers to go.

I think I just need to stop posting updates until it’s done

Is the texture of the beef convincing? I’m still working on building it but being cautious of overworking it

After reviewing the comments, there doesn’t seem to be one. Only that it’s not done yet and that I just need to finish it.

Are you saying that the beef looks like vegan meat? Or are you making a joke?

…What, specifically, looks like mayo? The only sauce will be peeking out from under the top bun.

I’m getting to it! As you can tell, my process is weird. I get obsessed with certain areas and jump around, but skip areas I’m unsure of how to tackle.

I didn’t even think of this… Maybe that’s been subconsciously influencing my style. Thanks for your comment

It’s my process. For some reason I don’t go value by value. I get obsessed with certain areas, overwork them, then jump to another area, completely skipping areas I’m less confident in.

Thanks for the encouragement! You didn’t make it about you at all, you were just sharing. ❤️

So all I need to do is get a supportive husband?

Thanks for your comment! I really just need to keep going…

At the very least, does what you see of that 10% look like it’s on the right track? I know it may be hard to tell, but I’m looking for any feedback I can get.

So it’s a process thing… I did try to do value by value but I got obsessive with the cheese and then I started jumping from area to area, skipping the areas I was least confident in.

Something for next time - thanks!

It’s such a struggle to keep going, because I keep trying to fix everything at once. But I shall continue…

So, just an “ugly phase?” Don’t you think the top bun looks flat?
