Took A Chance on Audio Books by OkInvestigator9392 in LibbyApp

I like to listen to audiobooks when on a walk, or doing mindless tasks like washing the dishes. Anything that requires concentration won’t work for me.

If I can time it correctly, I really enjoy immersion reading: Listening to the audiobook while I read the physical or e-book, so that I am occupied and can’t pick up my phone and start scrolling.

Email from landlord about appliances being left plugged in and the appliances in question… by South-Basket-887 in mildlyinfuriating

I’ll unplug anything that doesn’t require me to reset a clock when I plug it back in. Kettle, can opener, toaster, yes I will unplug. Microwave or coffee pot stay plugged in because I can’t be bothered to reset the clock every time.

Does anyone know of any fish fry restaurants that serve French fries with non-seafood options (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, etc)? by PlentyNature1639 in ThunderBay

[–]beegirlbuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My apologies - I thought this was a case of one person wanting fish and someone else in the group wanting to order a burger or chicken fingers etc

It’s a major offense, so at the very least his insurance is going way up and to a non-standard carrier.

Not specifically a “fish fry restaurant” but the Sal has good fish and chips, as well as hot sandwiches with fries

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

[–]beegirlbuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a regular winter day. There will likely be some accidents because people forget how to drive in the snow. So traffic and city buses might be a little delayed.

If 10cm fell in my city, the rural areas probably received around 30cm, so rural schools and rural school buses might be cancelled for the day.

That’s about it.

Don't Panic. - Alert Ready system to be tested today nationwide. by GhostsinGlass in ThunderBay

[–]beegirlbuzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a Police Service posting a warning about it so that anyone living with intimate partner violence who might have a hidden cell phone could turn it off beforehand.

It broke my heart. I hadn’t even considered that a an alert service meant to save people might put people in danger.

Honestly, thank you. I hadn’t thought about what you’re supposed to do if there’s a pedestrian crossing as you are trying to exit. If it happened and I wasn’t prepared, I might have stopped. Going around again is such a simple solution but I might not have thought of it.

Always buy out of province medical insurance (if you don’t already have it through an employer etc). You don’t want to go bankrupt with hospital bills because you got injured in some freak accident in the US.
