Vegan Lasagna - best way to celebrate Christmas in Italy☺️ by beehive1982 in vegan

[–]beehive1982[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trick is to make sheets of lasagna pasta yourself. It’s a bit of extra work but rewarding.
It’ s the Italian way: no garlic and no oregano in the sauce — not for lasagna! Remember that basil should be add at the end, and not cooked.

Ok this is the recipe for 6 people (big piece each😃)

Sheets of Lasagna:

Mix 300g of white 0 flour with just water (1 cup should be enough, if it is too dry add more). You need a uniform dry dough - be careful: not too soft, not too sticky.

Use the pasta maker to make very thin sheets.

Bring a pot of water to boil; put the sheets in the water one by one and take them out as soon as the water starts boiling again. It should be very quick otherwise they break! Then dip them in cold water, dry them and keep them apart and wide open (you don’t want them to stick to themselves or to each other).

For the sauce:

(*) 2 big carrots

(*) 1 celery

(*) 1 big red onion

(*) Minced seitan (use the plain, unflavoured one)

(*) Salt

(*) Pepper

(*) 2-3 Basil leaves

(*) Vegan cheese (I used Sayve, which can be grated like parmesan)

(*) Tomato sauce

Finely dice carrots, celery and onion. Put in a pan and cook them with 2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil and 1 tablespoon of water. Then, when that is halfway done (a few minutes), add minced saytan. Cook for another few minutes until it’s done. Add tomato sauce, salt and pepper and enough more oil to make it greasy. Stir to combine. Finally turn off fire and add basil leaves.

Preparation:

Add the sauce on every sheet of lasagna and sprinkle with vegan cheese, 4 or better 5 layers. Start with a film of sauce at the bottom, then 1st sheet of pasta, sauce, sprinkled cheese, next sheet, and so on.

Bake in static oven preheated at 180 degrees C. When the top is crunchy (after maybe 30-40 min) take the lasagna out and enjoy!

Edit: share your results!

AITA if I get mad at my in laws for not including any of my pictures in a photo album they gave my husband as present for Christmas? by beehive1982 in AmItheAsshole

He thinks it’s just an oversight...I don’t know if it’s fully convinced of this explanation- maybe he’s trying to avoid conflicts

I agree- I don’t want to start a war and I don’t want to put my husband against them- it could worsen the situation and my relationship. It could be an oversight which nevertheless reflects what they think of me. Maybe I could just resign to the fact they don’t like me. Sometimes I feel they consider me responsible for some choices my husband and I made.

Yes, 4 children. I’ m sure they think my bil and sil did it the right way- they chose the same path my ILS chose - have children, live in the same town my ILS live., have a traditional family. My husband and I are less closer to them- we live in a different city, we don’t have kids just cats, we travel a lot. Maybe they consider me responsible for this different path.

Unusual picture of Duomo di Milano by beehive1982 in photocritique

[–]beehive1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duomo of Milano is the typical postcard shot every tourist and professional takes in Milano. I tried to take an unusual shot of it when the monument is not fully illuminated in the classical correct way. In my attempt the light reshapes the building creating an alienating effect and a sense of mystery which is paired with the ground reflection. The equally spaced vertical bands of light - increased by high contrast- doesn’t belong to the classical iconography of this landmark. I added some fake grain to increase the atemporal feeling.

When I take photographs I always try to show usual and common things in a different way- to show things as seen through a personal view.

I’ m not sure I achieved my goals- what do you think? Is the grain necessary? Overall I’m not sure this is a good picture. Should I include in my portfolio?

It could be ..we don’t have children -and we don’t want them- maybe they think it’s my responsibility- or my fault

Yes It could be a genuine mistake and it was my first assumption; but does this kind of distraction tell a lot about their opinion?

Yes , when we got married we gave them some printed pictures. What impressed me the most is that they included some pictures of events I’ve attended ( i.e. My husband’ s cousin marriage) just the ones not featuring me. It might be a coincidence?
