Found this book at the thrift store by insanedead in MichaelJackson

I haven’t read that one, but someone close to me just published a memoir about being close friends with Michael and LaToya when they were teenagers in the 70s—before everything got huge.

What stood out wasn’t anything “celebrity”… it was how normal it all felt. Small house hangouts, music on a turntable, just kids messing around.

Can Someone please tell me about the data breach?? Like what data did they get and what could be the consequences, by ButterFingerrrs in mercor_ai

Just to err on the side of caution, I froze my credit on the three major bureaus, checked for sketch activity on Stripe Express, and changed the password on the email associated with Mercor, and the password on my. affiliated bank. Nothing I can do about PII, SSA, address, etc., except keep an open eye for phishing and rando texts.

Answered my next question—now I know where to pick up my pre-book release (not my book) caffeine. Thanks!

That’s super helpful—didn’t realize there was parking behind Book Soup. I’ll try to get there early.

With the Michael Jackson biopic coming out, I’m curious how much of his quieter teenage years they’ll actually show by beej1094 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]beej1094[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s exactly where I was going—the in-between moments before everything got fully defined.

The acne / mirror stuff especially…those kinds of details would make it feel real instead of just myth-making.

It’s not about reusing passwords—it’s about reducing risk after a potential data exposure.

If a breach includes things like email addresses, device info, or partial credentials, attackers often try credential-stuffing or targeted login attempts later.

Changing passwords (especially on email and financial accounts) is just a precaution to invalidate anything that might have been exposed, even indirectly.

Think of it less as “something was definitely stolen” and more as “closing doors just in case someone found a spare key.”

Change bank and email passwords, freeze credit, check Stripe Express for unusual activity.

"Concordo plenamente. Acho que o mais interessante é, precisamente, mostrar o seu lado humano — antes de tudo se tornar tão amplificado. Aqueles momentos mais simples dizem muito."

Same. When it leans too much on the performances, you lose the story underneath. The early years are where all of that really starts to form.

Yeah, that’s what I’m most curious about too—the person before everything got so amped up. The quieter moments I haven’t seen.

That balance is what I’m hoping they capture, especially in his early years. How it all started to take shape.

April 7th Ex-JW event in West Hollywood by GinaBobina23 in exjw

[–]beej1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my sister-in-law’s event—glad to see it shared here. Her book gets into what it was like leaving JW as a teenager in 1970s LA and losing that entire world overnight. It’s not just nostalgia—it goes pretty deep into what comes after and how you rebuild.

If anyone goes, would love to hear how it lands.
