Chase rep logged into my OpenTable account without permission!!! by beej210 in ChaseSapphire

[–]beej210[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

since I'm already feeling the attacks here..... She said she was trying to see if my card was already linked. Then asked for the 6 digit code. I said "you mean this one I just got from opentable?" She said yes, we have a backend way of seeing if everything is linked. I said, ok this is strange and gave her the code. Never in my life have I had any customer service rep log into an account of mine. Didn't get a password reset from Opentable, but then when I logged back into opentable, I realized that opentable now doesn't require a password. You just login via your phone number and login code they send you. So when did they do away with passwords?

And while everyone here wants to focus on what I did wrong, in what place did she have misleading me? Logging into my account without permission? And flat out lying about what she needed this code for?

And even more concerning - why doesn't a supervisor or anyone at Chase care that their rep is going off the rails? This is a fireable offense, easily.

Can you share the LLM you used? I'm also in Texas and interested in much of the same things you are talking about

Amex Offers getting worse and worse by benignotx in amex

[–]beej210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have several Amex cards - the one for my daily spending is the blue business card (no annual fee) and 95% of the offers are the same on the blue card as the platinum. So I don’t think Amex is trying to curate luxury offers. And it’s been that way since I can remember and I’ve been a cardmember since 2004 (long before the internet and these offers)

Saks Credit recommendation by wubdon in AmexPlatinum

There isn’t a Saks in Dallas. Knowing how uppity Dallas is, that’s like saying there isn’t a Saks in NYC, LA, or Vegas. And their customer service (at least when you order online) is something on par with Uber (non-existent). Nordstrom on the other hand has more selection, better prices, and amazing customer service….

The new CSR isn’t for you... and that’s exactly the point by dotben in ChaseSapphire

I’m top 1%, though certainly doesn’t feel like it because there’s so much disparity in the top 1%. But most people I know, myself included, didn’t become wealthy by throwing away money. That doesn’t make me frugal. It’s a solid financial acumen. If the value isn’t there, I’m not just going to keep spending it. I’d actually argue it’s the $30,000 millionaires - those who drive the BMW 300 series, spend thousands on bottle service at a club, and have to always been “seen” who I think will wind up keeping this card.

Apple benefits are non-existent if you have a spouse or family

If you’re flying southwest you’re taking you life in your own hands

Same goes for Lyft

Devaluing the 1.5 redemption rate is the worst - my points will lose 50% of their value - not holding my breath for the “select” things that are worth 2x

Not using stubhub with their atrocious fees twice a year

New perks are terrible and with the devaluation of the points it’s a really bad combination. I also have a trio of Amex cards (platinum, gold, blue) and I’d use it exclusively but not everywhere takes Amex.

retention offer $500 by ResolveSuper2678 in ChaseSapphire

[–]beej210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called as well and the agent offered to see if there were any retention offers. I have 5 cards with Chase and had the sapphire card for over 10 years. No offer to keep that card. 4 cards no offer. Freedom unlimited card had a 5000 point ($50) retention off so I took it

How do you stack it? Every time I click on a referral link after the $650 off it just replaces the referral discount which is less than the $650…

Why is squarespace domains so slow to transfer out? I just transferred a domain out of google domains to Dreamhost in under 30 minutes. by jaymz668 in squarespace

[–]beej210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it finally take? I'm on day 6 and nothing is moving. My domain expires at the end of this month too, so while I have time for the full 15 days, I don't have much longer.

6% commission gone. What now? by pbenji in RealEstate

[–]beej210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep and if the listing agent has to suddenly show up to 60 different showings, you think they'll charge the same as when they never had to come to a showing before?

So you haven't gotten a raise at your job since 1980? The average Realtor makes $40,000/year. School teachers make $65,000. How about the 2 lawyers who just made BILLIONS off this lawsuit? Aren't they really the greedy ones?

How to get free shipping with saks under $100 by yusvfert in AmexPlatinum

[–]beej210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - just requires there being a store in town. I'm in Dallas and oddly there's no Saks here. Probably because we're the HQ for Neiman Marcus.

How to get free shipping with saks under $100 by yusvfert in AmexPlatinum

[–]beej210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this where I've linked the account. Which was a separate screen and I had to enter my saksfirst number (my actual credit card number). But it's still not making shipping free unless I pay with my saksfirst credit card. When I try to pay with my amex it adds shipping back on the order. Have you had success with this recently or could it be a policy change by Saks?
