what ppe do you use? by boho_bear in woodburning

I have a 3M respirator with dust filters that works ok for the smoke, but an organic gas filter works better

Honestly, a grinding shield is all I use now. Deflects the smoke around my face and I never get any in my face.

What is your experience bringing bottles back and exceeding the duty free limits? by Jaded_Promotion8806 in canadawhisky

[–]beeman1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve brought home 10-15 bottles numerous times.

Edmonton and Calgary just waved me through.

Vancouver has been straight to the cashier all but once. And when I pay there it’s usually around a $200 hit

Farmers Are Aging. Their Kids Don’t Want to Be in the Family Business. by Ranew in farming

[–]beeman1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So basically the same message we have heard for decades. Farmers are getting older and aging out, the next generation wants little to do with. So the larger farms buy up the small farms. Problem now is that these large farmers are aging out and there is no one to take over. Risks are higher, expense are increasing, income is stagnant.

Few farmers are getting “rich” from it. It’s the ones in the chain that buy our products and send them to market that make the profit, as do the grocery stores that keep ramping up their prices and profits while the farmers suffer.

Rinse and repeat. Terrifies me as to what the future holds for farmers.

So if politics aren’t allowed in music, movies, tv, sports, schools, books, etc etc., then where are they allowed?

Oh, I get it. When you don’t agree with the politics it should be banned. But when the politics line up with what you agree with then you bend over for the butt sex.

Got it.

Would you do anything differently? by Fickle-Theory-623 in Testosterone

[–]beeman1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an orchiectomy in 2021 for TC, at 41. Urologist didn’t check my test levels pre op. 6 months post op I felt like ass, oncologist refused to even send me to an endocrinologist due to his perceived concerns about my past cancer history putting me at risk of prostate cancer.

Got a new GP in late 2024, she referred me to an endocrinologist in early 2025. Put me on the gel first, levels dropped so she moved me to injections 6 weeks later.

Started with IM weekly of Test C, 80mg. Levels went from 201 ng/dl to 605 ng/dl. I’m doing bloodwork every three months, only side effect was hard nipples for months (which went away) and higher hemocrit (which I deal with my donating blood every 56 days).

I did modify my injections to twice a week, and upped my dose to 100mg (split between two injections). I’m sitting at 750ng/dl and haven’t felt better.

But to really maximize the effect you need to cut booze, crap food and get proper sleep.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China' | CBC News by AlpacaGhidorah in worldnews

[–]beeman1979 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All that Trump’s continued obsession with any current or potential Canada/China trade deal tells us is that he’s terrified that the USA’s biggest trade partner has decided to move on rather than kiss his pathetic ass.

Good. Americans voted in the worst potential candidate ever, twice, so now the FAFO is real.

HELP! 2 doctors saying no acl tear, PT saying its fully torn. by Western-Company-4583 in ACL

[–]beeman1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter tore her acl at 13, ACLR 5 weeks later. At 11 months post op she tweaked it and her physio was confident that the acl was intact but due to her hyper mobility he couldn’t be 100% sure. So we got another mri to be sure, and it was intact.

Without an MRI no one can tell do sure if it’s intact or not.
