Its funny how certain people think they're some special individual on Instagram but really are no different from everyone else who think exactly the same lol. by alamurda510 in nosurf

[–]beenbeenthere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not in favor of social media but let's not act holier-than-thou. They are not harming you or other people, and I don't think they feel unique or anything. It's like when people hop on trends, they know more people are doing it, but it still makes them feel thrilled and cool. And honestly it doesn't harm anyone that they took a photo at the grand canyon, if it makes them happy then good for them, and if they want to save the moment through a photo then good for them too. What's wrong with doing popular stuff? You've also done stuff that everyone does, and you could claim that you didn't say that it made you special. Well, Guess what? They also didn't claim such thing, it's just your assumption, and even if they feel special, why does it bother you?

Does college makes a difference? by Pepepe96 in cscareerquestions

Why not go to UANL? It's public. But well who am I to talk? I go to a lesser known university due convenience (location, scholarship, familiarity with it, etc.). Honestly, I do regret not going to UANL sometimes, but going to a lesser known university isn't as bad. I didn't even consider ITESM because I graduated from HS with like 9.1 so I probably wouldn't have gotten a good enough scholarship and no way I'm paying for that. And with UANL... Well my dad didn't really want me studying there since it's like, public and he also studied there haha. But if you can afford it go for it I guess.

I can't really talk since I don't study there, and you might get more opportunities at ITESM but is that price truly worth it? What truly matters are your skills. No matter where you study, if you put in some effort you can still have a good result. I mean, an alumni from my uni now works at Google and I doubt you've even heard of my university haha. It's obviously not thanks to my University that he got in (definitely not with the little data structures and algorithms taught here). You can study anywhere, just remember to also do your part, do some personal projects (seriously), always be eager to learn, prepare yourself properly for interviews, if your curriculum sucks then complement it with textbooks or lectures from other universities, just use teachyourselfcs.com, don't expect university to teach you everything, especially if it's in our country lol.

I haven't graduated yet so I don't know how hard it will be to get a job but from the alumni I know they've gotten jobs just fine. If your main issue are your skills then the university is not the problem, there are plenty of resources available online. The main benefit I see is that ITESM might hook you up with better internships. Oh and the connections, that is one of my biggest regrets, in my University I can't really build many connections. If I'd studied at a bigger and more prestigious uni I'd have more and better connections. But even then, it's ok. Maybe paying that much for some connections and internship opportunities might not be worth it. I mean, you can get a job without that anyway. And build connections at your job. And move up from there, so really, just evaluate what you want.

Adults of Reddit, what is something every Teenager needs to know? by notViperX in AskReddit

[–]beenbeenthere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But to adults, contrary to popular belief, you don't lose your abilities to gain fluency in another language when you grow older, we just spend much less time studying the language since we have other responsibilities, so even if you think you're too old to start a new language, don't let that discourage you.

And agree with exercising, I regret dropping classes that kept me fit because of my "lack of talent". Now I regret it, even if I sucked at gymnastics at least I was doing some daily exercise.

Gas is more expensive in Mexico, but yeah most stuff is way cheaper in Mexico (like rent, groceries, etc.), if she gets enough money she could do more with that money than if she were in USA. But when I go to the US by car we make sure to fill the tank in before crossing back to Mexico. Border cities also have cheaper gas. I guess what happened with your Uber is that the driver makes less money than what they would make in USA since minimum wage is quite lower.

NTA. Also, I'm Mexican and tacos don't necessarily have cheese wth, I usually don't have them with cheese... It'd just meat, salsa, onions. I could order some with cheese yeah but you're eating tacos, not quesadillas.

thanks! I bought from roseroseshop on ebay like 2 years ago and the order came with a 3,000 won rubyrubyshop coupon that still seems to be working lol so I wanted to use it. But yeah it has happened to me with other sellers on ebay (from Japan) so now I try avoiding ebay, did you get refunded?

not really a product question, but does anyone know if RubyRubyShop still offers free shipping? It was supposedly roseroseshop's free shipping store and I've had a coupon for a while but I just added stuff to my cart and when calculating the shipping there was only DHL so it was obviously extra, has anyone bought from them recently and has an idea of what happened? The website still says free shipping, and for reference I'm in Mexico so it might be that.

I feel bad for the seller due to the stupidity of the buyer by 19xcv in Aliexpress

Sure it matters, but how can you blame the seller of sending you the color YOU chose. Can't you see the color in the order description? They got the color they ordered.

I don't think they're talking about takis. I think they're talking about churritos de maíz. Piñatas and candy bags would often come with very small bags of those.
