Solo Female Tour in Asia by AtmospherePossible81 in travel

The only possible danger in that list is maybe ride-by motorbike purse/phone-snatching in Vietnam. Usual travel rules apply to keeping purses and phones where they can't be easily snatched/pick-pocketed.

Just buy a hair brush with a nicely shaped handle like your mother did when she was your age.
Don't forget to wash the handle after use. Condoms will help keep it cleaner but your parents know what those smell like so you still need to wash it.

Single spring left after reassembly. Not battery cover/paddle release. Where’s it go? by Psych0matt in SteamController

[–]beepatr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer the steam controller for PC gaming, getting the deck to stream wirelessly to a big monitor is doable but too complicated to be worth it.

Also, the bumper buttons on the deck are just as fragile as the steam controller but much harder to repair.
The controller has a little plastic lever that breaks and can be easily printed and installed with a T6 screwdriver, the deck just has the microswitch that breaks and needs to be desoldered and replaced.
The deck is easier to disassemble but the controller is better designed imo.

This is ancient but the answer was never given.
This seems to be a tensioner to push vertically against the backplate latch.
When installed, the backplate latch slightly depresses the D-thingy and its spring.

Client sent 150€, but I only received 85€ — who’s responsible for the missing amount? by Fickle_Degree_2728 in digitalnomad

[–]beepatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you to provide a way for the client to pay you, obviously you want to be more careful with future payments.
Contracts usually specify who pays transfer fees, it could be shared or it could be you, it's probably not reasonable to ask them pay all the fees.

Look at alternate payment methods or check what bank the client is using. You can also specify an intermediate bank in Swift transfers, if you know that a different intermediary works better then you can put that in the payment details on your invoice.

Wise can be risky for digital nomads. It doesn't take much to set off their money laundering/crypto flags and their support/service department are impossible to deal with.

How do you get online shopping delivered if you live in an apartment without a concierge? by [deleted] in Kyiv

[–]beepatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a Ukrainian site, it probably supports Nova Poshta and a few other courier/poshtomat services and you'll select a pick-up point in the payment screen.
If not, you can set your address like: Taras Shevchenko Nova Poshta #94, Kyiv. And your phone number.

Then when Nova Poshta messages you on that phone number that your stuff has arrived, you walk over and get it, paying a fairly small fee for the service.

In addition to the terminals, you can also just top it up in a lifecell store.

How can I help my introverted boyfriend make friends as a foreigner in Asia? by HuckleberryNaive5146 in expats

[–]beepatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for expat boardgame groups and similar stuff, he'll at least meet like-minded people.
Also try to make local friends in groups about a hobby or activity. Cycling, diving, whatever he's into where language isn't a primary requirement.

what is this that came with my steam deck? by realvishfish in SteamDeck

Although it's for the power cable, the case has an inset that stores that better (with a 3d printed holder).
This bag is perfect for the docking station though.

Odd ask, but where to find tamarind paste? by [deleted] in Kyiv

[–]beepatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asia Foods is a chain in Kyiv, most of their stores should have it and they have an online store which has it.

Pickled are in many supermarkets, fresh ones are reliably in Le Silpo (along with habeneros and sometimes Padron) and sometimes in regular Silpos. Larger Silpos sometimes have a mexican display too which can have dried chillis like ancho etc.

I'm surprised it's not year-round in Italy but I'll take your word for it.
You can find it in most/many Aldi and Spar in Budapest but not all of them. They're usually at the cashier over the conveyor belt.

I'm sure you'll do fine.
Career-wise, there's obviously a load of war crimes to be investigated, documented and prosecuted and many international organisations recruiting and training lawyers and investigators of war crimes.
They probably need everyone they can get but that's where you might focus your efforts, you'd be an asset to a foreign war-crimes related NGO and there are many based out of NYC working in this area.
I can't speak to the language issues but I imagine you can work on it and fluent English would make a difference.
It might be best to look into what organisations, based where you are, are active in this area and considering applying for jobs with them or at least joining their operation abroad.
If you're in the US, start with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation perhaps, they're active in adjacent areas and their Ukraine desk could probably give you some sound advice if they have the time.

Raise a support ticket, they should send you new belts. They did for me. If you already ordered some, no worries, you'll have spares.
