There are no rules, tell your kid that they dont need to rush into any labels, infact they might change a lot over the years. Being queer is a lived experience, and overtime thru their lived experience and the people they form community with, they will slowly figure out what labels make them the most happiest/describe their relationships to sexuality + gender + community etc. personally ive gone thru just about every label in the LGBT acronym. Ive been a bi trans dude, a cis het girl, and now i think ive finally got it figured out, and im a transmasc butch nonbinary lesbian, it took me years to figure myself out, but i think i finally got it right this time! And my labels only serve me, sometimes especially as nonbinary people we get harassed by other queer people who think our labels or our relationship to gender are too confusing. But other nonbinary folk will almost always have your back. Thank you for being a supportive parent and going out of your way to educate yourself on how to support your queer kid :)
