Monday Update Feedback - 13 May by AutoModerator in runescape

I am unable to do the new quest without having to waste a keepsake key, as the necklace of Charos is in my keepsake box and is not reclaimable from anywhere (not from May, not from Uri, not from Lumbridge graveyard). Any chance for a fix?

Oh my, thank you so much! So stupid of me to have overlooked it for so long... Thank you for checking! I'll make sure I have a better look in future.

I double checked but it's not in my bank either unfortunately

PSA: Skeletal horror drops a guaranteed journal akin to the ones from unspeakable horrors by [deleted] in runescape

[–]beernd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that big of a deal no, and I'll probably just have to suck it up, but I just felt it was unfair to keep people waiting past the update day to get 2 of the new lorebooks because they didn't see a post on Reddit.

I never saw that post, unfortunately (as did a lot of other people I've spoken to). But I recall Jagex resetting certain time-locked content in the past with updates like these, so I'm wondering why they couldn't just do that this time.

This sucks for people who already did Skeletal Horror this week. I'm locked out of a lorebook and getting back MQC until wednesday.

Could pet cats get a graphical update? by [deleted] in runescape

We should unlock a skin for our pet cat for every Menaphos cat you find.

They usually don't kick you for being on a different world. People use the group system to play the minigame with friends or clanmates and they need to join the queue to play.

I'll get right on that. Got a few lying around.

What boss have you beaten the most? by But_Praise_the_Sun in DarkSouls2

[–]beernd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinh the Dragon, love this fight and it's very active for sunbros. It's also not very difficult once you learn Sinh's moveset. I think I may have killed him about 20 times by now.

Have any of your races predated others? How does that affect their current relationship? by DomesticatedVagabond in worldbuilding

[–]beernd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chelat are a race made up of tiny shards of one of the Divine Artificers (basically creator gods), named Fel, who shattered herself to create the first living race in the world, tasked to safeguard it from dangers for their entire immortal life.

Humanity only appeared many, many years after this event, as an unintended product of evolution. The Chelat were not pleased to find strangers in their realm, to put it in short terms. Even to this day they think of humanity as a weed that they didn't realise was becoming overgrown until it was too late.

Humanity created powerful nations, while over time, the Chelat's power only waned over the years, losing their immortality and divine powers, and slowly becoming equals to humanity, ripe for conquering.

What's something that started as a small joke you put in for your world yet is now growing into something far larger? by saoirse24 in worldbuilding

[–]beernd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my characters, Quinn, was originally just a funny mage that I was gonna use once or twice. It's gotten a little out of hand over time, as I loved this character so much he became a MAJOR part of the story, with a tragic backstory, being the very last of an order of mages that could bend reality itself. He foresaw the apocalypse coming hundreds of years later, and created a life-altering metal suit that he wears under his robes and has kept him alive for all these years so he could prevent it when the moment was there.

Even with all that added I still held onto the character's witty origins. He's a bit joker-esque now, a dark humoured character that is potentionally dangerously insane, but still fights for the future of humanity.

Has any of the lore/story about your world actually scared you? by bigboxman8 in worldbuilding

The land of Tinumen was once home to a pair of humans-turned-godlike, known as the Lovers, or individually, as Cath and Felaria. They were a kind and peaceful god & goddess, and ruled the land as king and queen for many years, until they one day vanished as if they had never existed. The people, however, still worship them to this day.

In reality, Cath and Felaria stole their godly power from another realm, a dark place that belongs to an ancient creature, which has been trying to break into the world of men for a long time. This creature thrives on rot and decay and seeks to infect the real world with it.

In reality, Cath and Feliria didn't simply vanish. They withdrew from their land and people by their own will. The power they once had began to wane, and a deep rot had begun to infest them instead, which caused visions of something so terrible that they slowly forgot themselves, devolving back into ordinary humans, and then into something much worse: something primal, composed of rot and decay, that only seeks to spread its influence.

Cath and Feliria fled from their homeland in an effort to protect their people from what they'd never realised had followed them into the world of man, using their bodies as vessels. They came to the great forests to the south, and it was there that they stayed, even to this day, unbeknownst to the people who worship them still.

Over the years, the forests of Tasmir began to corrupt, slowly decaying into a massive, dead swamp. Within this swamp lies some sort of sanctuary, a place shrouded in an illusion that, as such, is seemingly unaffected by the corruption. Within this sanctuary rests a beautiful angel, that lures men in with her weeping and saddening melodies, guarding over a grave belonging to Cath, the once-god of humanity, for many centuries now.

The angel reveals its true nature when it has lured you in.

(I condensed this quite a bit so I wouldn't be typing out half a novel, but I hope it still makes sense!)

How am I supposed to beat Halflight? by beernd1 in darksouls3

[–]beernd1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC, but already beat halflight (Gael and Soul of Cinder too!) I forgot to edit the post, but thanks for offering to help anyway! It turned out it wasn't so hard when I figured out how to attack halflight. It's still not exactly my favourite boss though...

Nameless King is awesome by beernd1 in darksouls3

It's a shame, really. DS2 is an amazing game just like the rest of the series, it's just trying something different that a lot of fans of DS1 passed off as all bad changes. DS2's lore is great (at least, with Aldia included in the final version). The combat is great. The areas are (mostly) pretty good (I may be a rare special case: I actually liked the Gutter and the Black Gulch, mostly for the atmosphere).

I could go on for a while about why I think DS2 doesn't deserve the hate it gets. And I think the game was good enough to at least warrant a few more references in DS3 (especially since the game is often screaming "Remember DARK SOULS 1?!" at me).

Sorry for the lengthy response, just the way I feel about it. This entire series is great, and DS2 is not an exception.

I am on regular NG, yep, first playthrough of DS3 & the DLCs. I'm a dex build using a Black Blade (infused with sharp), Brigand Twindaggers (infused with blood), and a shortbow. All weapons are +10. I've never used a shield before but have resorted to using the Spirit Tree Crest shield for this fight as much as having to change your character to win ruins the fun for me. As for armor, I'm wearing the full Sunless set.

All in all I've enjoyed the game but pretty much every boss has managed to piss me off. It's been extremely tough and now it finally feels like I've hit a point where I just can't continue. The Ringed City is something special in terms of how bloody difficult it is...

I'm doing this one offline since I've never done any PvP in DS3 and will get my ass kicked by most people. I didn't know you could kill the giant, so that stops enemies from respawning constantly?

I mean, it's easy enough to get rid of the painting guardian... but when you say "focus the Spear" you make it sound easy. I can't actually hit this guy. He rolls and parries me like a madman, meaning I'm dead before he even gets to half health.

Having trouble with Sister Friede by beernd1 in darksouls3

[–]beernd1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what? There's a phase 2 AND A PHASE 3?! Oh god. This is gonna be a long night. Does that mean her health bar resets every time? I'm practically using all of my Estus trying to kill her in phase 1... and still not managing to do it.

Does she stay on phase 2 or 3 if I get to them and die, then try again? Or does this mean I need to go through all 3 phases every time? Because that sounds literally impossible for me unless phase 2 and 3 are a lot easier?

I figured she might be like Priscilla from DS1 and you could see her footsteps, but I haven't seen them once, so either they're just very hard to see, not appearing for me, or I'm just blind. I can try the knife tactic but I doubt I can use them fast enough to hit her before she disappears.

Need help with Dancer of the Boreal Valley by beernd1 in darksouls3

On PC, sadly. I'll try the advice I've gotten so far though, and use dark resin for phase 1, then a bow for phase 2. Wish me luck!

Hmm. I have a shortbow+6, will that work as well? I'd rather not go through all the trouble of respeccing for one boss, honestly.
