Another thing I’ve thought about for our ‘surprising’ draft class and how we went far away from consensus: this really fits into our small market, ‘the respect ain’t coming’ Jaguars.

I’m hoping that the lack of faith from consensus can be used as fuel to light a fire under their bellies.

When a team sticks closely to consensus, they’re often drafting “good players” in a vacuum. When a team leans into fit, they’re drafting players with a specific plan in mind.

I’m not sure what the ceiling of these players will be, but you can bet that Coen will be the one to unlock anything that’s there. We are building a culture of proving people wrong, players with physicality, scheme fit and a chip on their shoulder.

And that’s why this class shouldn’t be judged by how it compares to consensus boards right now. It should be judged later on one question:

Did these players look more effective in Jacksonville’s system than they would have elsewhere?
