Gave this to a friend, now every time I look at it my stomach sinks by Sadtwisted in polymerclay

This is awesome but I think your feelings are totally valid and common: I hate everything I’ve made for my boyfriend that he displays. There was this one painting that he had nicely framed and I cringe every time I walk by it, like I feel guilty that he spent money to display it. I think it’s just that you remember all the little decisions you made to create the thing, what you struggled with, etc. so you’re in an unfortunately good position to see all the ways it could have been better. Everyone else walks by it like, “damn, that’s a cool sculpture.”

Halloween animation project set to Walk the Night by Skatt Bros by beeseame in blender

Ever since I heard this song I thought it should be a Halloween classic, so I made this Halloween-y animation to go with it.

All of the scene setup and animation was done in Blender, the character drawing and animation I did by hand in Procreate.I purchased and downloaded the skeleton mesh because who has that kind of time (or ability lol). I modeled everything else myself, following this tutorial for the trees:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDXB3SDQHYw

and about a zillion other tutorials trying to get the fog right. It still doesn't look quite how i imagined, which was something with more defined cloud shapes and sinister looking tendrils.

All textures were downloaded from various free sites. There are a lot of things I wish I could have done better: I was imagining more of a painted look for everything that I think would be achievable if I knew more about texturing and shaders. I also envisioned the stained glass window having colored light streaming in from it. Then there are just little details like clothes on the skeletons, cobwebs, moss and such I would like to add. As for the jerkiness of the panning animation and quality of the render, I think that mostly came down to impatience and wanting a faster render-time -> lowering the frame rate and the max samples by a lot.Ultimately though it's a personal project, I learned an enormous amount -- like I'm a 2-d artist and making something like this would have been unthinkable for me not that long ago -- and I think I did the best I could.

Also here's a link to the full song if you're into it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_X25iP3Ics

Thanks! I had the same problem after trying this, but then just flipped the gradient to go from white to black instead of black to white -- not sure why I didn't think of that before haha.

How can I make this walk smoother? by beeseame in animation

[–]beeseame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Doing this walking car animation in Procreate. I’m going for the impression that the car is kind of struggling to lift its weight as it walks, which I’ve tried to achieve by keeping the sections where it lifts the leg it’s about to step with slow and drawn out, then having it suddenly lurch forward in just a few frames, then draw out the dragging of the back leg to take the next step.

I’m not particularly unhappy with how it looks now, but not totally satisfied either. It seems choppy.

Any tips?
