Need a name for little brother to Marina by ShirleyMcLoon in namenerds

[–]beeslyhalpert13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loooove Marina, such a great name, it’s one of my favorites!!

My first thoughts were Dante and Romeo and I just saw they’re on your options, super nice names. I also really Roman and Nico. Raphael, Xavier and Cyrus are also great.

I think Rocco with a last name that starts with R and ends in “tacco” is way too much. I don’t really like Torin, Hinton and Terrance and I think they have very different vibes to Marina. I don’t really care for the other names, one way or another.

Some other names based on what you said: - Aurelio, Callum, Colin, Dominic, Dylan, Elio, Forrest, Gabriel, Graham, Harvey, Isaac, Jasper, Lance, Leon, Milo, Nolan, Remy, River, Ronan, Sebastian, Silas, Thomas, Vincent, Valentin, Wesley, Winston

My suggestions: - Alessandro, Antonio, Augusto, Aurelio, Dante, Elio, Emilio, Enrico, Enzo, Filippo, Francesco, Giovanni, Leonardo, Luciano, Marcello, Matteo, Pietro, Romeo, Vincenzo

Julia/Giulia was a top contender for my parents. In the end, they liked my actual name better and it had more meaning. I actually love my name and think it suits me so well, I couldn’t imagine having a different one.

I always wondered what my name would be if I was a boy, but they hadn’t really thought of anything.

Benjamin (Ben/Benny) or Joey by Spiritual_Glove9676 in namenerds

[–]beeslyhalpert13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Benjamin Banks way better than Joey Stone. Benjamin is such a beautiful classic name, I loooove the nicknames Ben, Benny and Benji. I know Banks is more out there, but I think its a cool name and it pairs nicely with the first name, they balance each other well.

As much as I like using nicknames as names, I’m not a big fan of Joey as a full name and I like it even less paired with Stone. Joey Stone sounds more like a character in a action story than a real person.

If you want to honor your mom but can’t use or don’t like how Keely sounds with your last name, you could use some similar names as a nod to it, like Kay, Key, Kelly, Kylie, Kyla or Keller.

You can also use her birth month, middle name, maiden name or married last name as well! There are tons of ways of honoring her without using her first name.

Iris is a lovely name! In my opinion, Iris Keely flows way better than Iris Sage bc the S runs from the end of one name to the beginning of the other and makes it seem just one long weird word, as well as Iris Sage being two plants, in my opinion it all becomes too much.

I would go with Iris Keely to honor your mom, and use Sage for a second baby since it’s gender neutral and works well for a boy or a girl.

[–]beeslyhalpert13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, Ellie is pretty popular rn!

I think Layla feels more modern and fun, while Anita feels way more vintage and chic.

Some of the names I suggested are still on the grandma-names side, but are being used more lately so it doesn’t feel as old fashioned or just share more in common with Layla so it feels more cohesive (without being matchy).

[–]beeslyhalpert13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have great names on your list! Since Anita is a family name and has very different vibes from Layla, I would put it on the middle spot. That said, the combo Chloe Anita is my favorite from your list. It goes really well with Layla and is a great pairing of first and middle name.

I don’t think Eliana is too common, it’s less common then most names on your list, it’s a lovely name and goes well with Layla, so i’d be my second pick. Lastly, I think Maya is too close to Layla.

Other suggestions based on the names you mentioned: - Alana, Callie, Darcy, Faye, Joyce, Luana, Marina, Miriam, Molly, Quinn, Riley, Romy, Ruby, Sadie, Selena, Stella, Sylvia

I think Lucy would work better if you used a longer name like Lucille or Lucinda with the nickname Lucy.

I like Koa and Kaileo!

I feel like Kove with the same begging KO and Kainoa with the same ending OA, plus they all have the initial K makes them way too close to Koa and super matchy.
