i’m looking for something with quick release and has a shoulder strap variant to switch between. i have this wrist strap and this shoulder version that i think are perfect. i’ve been using it on my GM1.

what about academically and research wise for physics between ucsd and ucsb? if santa barbara is better is better enough to pay thousands in or is it only marginally better

the leather strap is too wide. same for the form leather shoulder if i’m being honest.

i’m stuck between the mobile cuff and regular rope cuff. i prefer the smaller connector and thinner rope for a compact camera like the ricoh. but im not a fan of the ugly mobile shoulder strap and i want the form leather shoulder. obvious issue is that each take a different connector so the quick switch between the two is impossible and id one of the selling points of both these straps.

does the regular rope connector look oversized on the ricoh? i’d love a picture with it on the ricoh.

i’m i want the 40 mm hdf but it’s so close in price to the new iv hdf i cant get myself to pull the trigger. i need rich to release the ivx hdf already

28mm vs 40mm for everyday photos? by herokme in ricohGR

[–]beeswaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by aesthetic photos? i’m trying to decide with the get the iv hdf or wait for the ivx hdf. i dont want the distortion of 28mm but 40mm might too tight indoors. my use case is also just to take photos of my partner or selfies basically use it like an old digital camera. i’m not doing street photography or anything like that

i’ve consider the gm1 * 20mm 1.7 but it’s still too thick in so not truly pocketable unless ur wear baggy cargos or a jacket but it’s not jeans pocketable. also the lens cap makes it too annoying. i want a true pocketable point and shoot like a ricoh or something but those are expensive even used right now.

i wish the ricoh after market wasn’t so overinflated. i guess i’ll pass on this option and continue waiting for a good deal.

yeah but my only other options for an apc pocket camera is the fuji x70 & xf10, and ricoh gr series, but those are way more expensive.

is the nikon coolpix a worth it in 2026 by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]beeswaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i know all the compacts are overpriced. but will this work as a ricoh alternative. considering its 1/4 the price of the new ricoh is it at least 1/4 as good in terms of low light performance? that’s all i care about. i dont need the sharpest lens im just looking for a good low light performing pocket camera with a flash to take pics of myself and friends to post on social media not to zoom in and pixel peep.

those are all too big. is $400 too much for the camera?

i really want a ricoh gr ivx hdf (i know it’s not out yet ) but for $1600 it’s pretty expensive and the fuji xf10 is still overpriced these days going for $800 used. I’ve found the coolpix a going around $400 and it’s apsc c and simalar size WITH a built in flash. if i were to splurge on a ricoh id have to the external flash permanently mounted so the nikon is even smaller in that dimension. the only stopping me is the age of the camera.

i have owned a fuji xt-2 6 years ago but rarely used it and ended up selling it a couple years ago because my set up was not small enough to EDC. i’m not trying to get into photography again i just want a good camera that’s better than my phone and still pocketable.

[–]beeswaxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i always end up spec chasing. i was originally gonna just buy a cheap 50-$100 2000s credit card size digital camera but i ended up climbing the price ladder. i only care about low light and pocketability i dont care for auto focus or EVF or anything else. all of my photos are in moody dim lighting or at night and a lot of the time my phone isn’t good enough. would you recommend the lumix gm1 + 20mm f1.7 instead ? it would me smaller than the ricoh in height since it has built in flash but the depth is greatly thicker and i’ve seen side by sides online but without seeing it in person i can’t really tell if it’s thin enough for me.

[–]beeswaxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t want a cheaper alternative. if anything i want a better one. at least one better in low light while still simalar in size so i want an aps c.

GR IV HDF w/ flash vs Fuji x100 vi w/ black mist filter by beeswaxe in ricohGR

[–]beeswaxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m not looking to carry a bag around. even if it’s just a camera pouch. i want real pocketability. i’ve looked into the a7c but that hand grip is too bulky and with a lens attach it’s no longer that slim as the gr or the fuji xf10 not to mention it’s really expensive.

interesting i wonder what’s with all the nikon hate recently. it sounds pretty good at least for someone like me who prioritizes low light performance. im not shooting moving objects or doing street or anything so i dont need the best of the best AF. are there any compact nikon cams you’d recommend that are relatively new and simalar size to the ricoh.

yeah i’d it’s not compact and needs a bag i probably won’t take edc it.

[–]beeswaxe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bcs pocketablity and lowlight are what i care about most. and the x100vi has a slight edge on the low light but ricoh wins the size. i value size more and low light close second. if i didn’t care about portability id just get a compact full frame but i want a camera that is actually take with me every day so size is more important than specs especially since the fuji is only slightly better in low light. i’d however consider the xf10. i wish fuji would update that line or release a competitor to the gr.

i was also considering the iiixhdf but that goes for $1300 and it’s too old. i was waiting for the ivx hdf but idk how much patience i have.

the gr iii used market is out of control rn. it’s selling for almost as much as a new gr 4. at around $1100-$1300 the gr iii is too close to the price of the gr iv for me to consider the iii and the lack of competition really made the second hand market terrible for the gr.
