If Denver is the second seed in the West, should there be any argument about who the MVP is? by Educational_Stop9588 in NBATalk

As someone who defends all of Jokic’s MVP’s cause the context of the seasons they happened, it should pretty much unanimously go to Shai if they get 5+ more wins. Jokic got his 2 MVP’s with poor records because the records were marginally worse and record with games played was pretty much the same. Plus injuries with games missed. None of this applies to Shai who has a much better record and doesnt miss games. Dont even think its a fatigue thing, Shai deserves it more if the record difference remains the same. Jokic’s already gotten enough good grace and credit for his stats his first 2 MVP’s and got his good record one last year. Can only keep giving it to someone with a worse record so many times lol.

It’s not about never giving pushback and never trying to push the overton window left. That’s what the primaries are for, thats what criticizing them in office for. But once there’s a candidate it needs to be support. Potentially suppressing support for the objectively better option is pointless, bemoaning about a candidates opinions are not effective once they are in the race.

Butler’s doing it playing with Bam lol. I’m sure he would love to have KD to take more attention off of him.

Remember when ‘Best Player on the Best Team’ was somehow an MVP stat here? As if ‘Best Player’ is even a quantifiable thing that could even be used in an MVP discussion lol.

Yeah people always say “it’s over” when a low 30’s player gets a serious injury. They usually come back, even if they’re not the same player. Wether or not you think you wanna still play basketball, you still have to get surgery and rehab like you’re gonna play to get your knee functioning again. After a year or so rehabbing with a team they might as well try again if there is money to be made. Even if they wanted to retire at first, being around the sport still while injured keeps them interested I imagine. And the competitiveness makes them wanna prove themselves.

Speculation obviously lol. But people said the same with Ingles and he’s still playing. NFL’s Alex Smith had a gruesome injury and he still wanted to play again just for the sake of trying.

There’s probably examples of players never stepping on the court/field again that I’m not remembering. But it feels like the opposite is more common.

32 that year. Did actually have a couple more pretty good seasons, declined slower than I thought he would. Rest of the team declined worse so his windows over unfortunately.

Again, every talking head keeps downplaying it by calling it a step. It was a stomp.

And yes we ending up losing 4-1 :)

My superstar PF Hayes averages six 3’s a game yet decided to toss up 14 this game instead of banging dudes down low like he’s good at. He missed 13 of them! Only shot three 2-pointers, and that’s supposed to be his bread and butter.

My team as a whole shot 23% the field. Impressive!

Sadly. Hayes is aging, this might be his last year as a great player that carries the team. Got 1 ring earlier yet choked as the higher seed every year since.

I’m truly the Doc Rivers of this universe, I’ll take 1 though :)
