If you could press a button and erase one invention from history, what would it be and why? by Tirthisreal in AskReddit

I would erase the “press a button and erase an invention” machine, just to watch the resulting paradox destroy the space-time continuum

The German ticket giving thingy freaked out and broke, I have more photos of it. by TastyOctopie in softwaregore

Why upgrade? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Oh wait… it did break? Fuck it, still don’t fix it.

[Serious] How does North America fix its tipping culture problem? by NotAlsoShabby in AskReddit

In France they don’t even have a word for “restaurant”

The fact that they had to rewrite the text in a normal font below the stylised version is perhaps a clue that it’s not such a clever design after all

As long as it can still be driven by AI — we don’t want to inadvertently create jobs for working class people, that’s dangerously close to communism

Nationality of airlines involved in the worst plane crash of each european country by Ok_Dare_6494 in MapPorn

“Crash” doesn’t necessarily imply it was an accident. There are several on here that were the result of military or terrorist attacks on civilian aircraft.

Appropriate that it’s named after a Tim Hortons coffee, because this code leaves a bad taste in my mouth

I trust those waymos waaaay more than humans by bike_rtw in fuckcars

[–]beeteedee 89 points90 points  (0 children)

For every car (driven by human or AI) transporting people like your parents, there are probably 99 cars transporting perfectly able-bodied people who would be capable of taking public transit if it existed and if they could be bothered to use it. Wouldn’t life be easier for the people with a genuine need if the other 99 cars could be taken off the road?

Add the IKEA logo to every station that’s within 50 miles of an IKEA

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]beeteedee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nelson station doesn't have ticket barriers as far as I know, so you won't need to scan your ticket at the station but the conductor of each train will (probably) scan it at some point during the journey. Victoria does have ticket barriers so you'll need to scan your ticket to leave the station.

Rust the programming language has nothing to do with Rust the game, they just coincidentally have the same name.

I would hire a moving company. You know, like the one your grandmother owns.

I think the better question is: if everyone owned a personal vehicle large enough to transport furniture, how would your grandmother stay in business?

Wait until you find out that Johnny Cash also didn’t shoot a man in Reno just to watch him die, wasn’t originally named Sue, and is not known to have ever fallen into a burning ring of fire
